Advantages: Compatible with newer 24pin motherboards and EPS12v Server boards, High wattage, Silent fan operation Disadvantages: Needs adapter to use with 20pin motherboards,
Upon upgrading my computer to an athlon MP system, i thought it would be a good idea to change my powersupply for something a bit more powerful.
When i looked up the specifications for this powersupply at antec`s website, there was nothing i could fault.
Looking into it further, i found that i would need a 24pin to 20pin adapter to use this on my motherboard.
The handy thing is that although this isnt an ATX2.0 powersupply, the 24pin pinout for the EPS12v ATX connector is 100% identical to the ATX2.0 24pin pinout. Another reason why i decided on this powersupply (so when i upgrade to dual opterons - this powersupply will be ample and will already provide the correct connectors).
You can always tell the quality of a powersupply by its weight, and these ones are heavy!
Comparing it to my old Q-tec 400w powersupply you would ...
Advantages: Stable Voltage for all components Disadvantages: Exspensive
OK ok ok the powersupply does have a limit, but to be fair...very few people shall ever take it to that stage.
If anyone out there is having Problems with their PC and need to find a better PSU?..Then look no further than this! The AntecTruePower550W is the Best PC POWERSUPPLY money can buy at the moment.
It will give stable voltages all the time, and this can be seen via the graphic cards software, and also in The BIOS of some computers.
The fan is controlled by a thermostat within the PSU, so obviously if the psu is cold the cooling fans will spin slow, and if the PSU starts to rise in temperature the fans pick up speed to improve the cooling within the unit.
All connectors are black, and the main power cable for the Motherboard is Braided with a black Netting (24Pin).
Though the Unit has a steep price so beware but if u are ...
Advantages: Very cheap, 2 fans Disadvantages: None
Arguably the most important component inside your PC is its powersupply, the powersupply unit (PSU) provides the power to every other component inside your computer ie: Motherboard, hard drive, processor, graphics card etc etc... and all these components require a powerful and extremely stable PSU in order to operate as intended.
14 months ago i built my current PC and opted to use the Q-tec 550watt dual fan gold as its powersupply unit, most modern day PC powersupplies average around 350 watt and they are predominantly fine for most PC's but as you add extra components to your PC like extra hard drives, or a faster processor or faster graphics card then you may get close to reaching the limit of your particular powersupply which can result in either the PSU not functioning properly (causing serious system instability) or in ...
