About the story:

This book focuses on the charachters of Andie and her sister Jin as well as their mother Cora. The book is set in Dublin and happens approximately a year since the passing of Cora's late husband Des. He died of cancer. In this novel, Sheila O'Flanagan does not only explore the relationships between siblings, parents and their children, between lovers and between friends, but it also shows the differences in classes.

Andie Corcoran lives on her own in a single flat, is a music teacher who has had a relationship with a married man for the past 4 years but does not agree with the way her younger sister Jin's only care is money. Jin is married to Kevin Dixon who has 2 children from a previous marriage and is a very wealthy business man and himself and his wife enjoy the comforts of a 7 bedroom house in the suburb of Malahide.

Andie, Jin and their mother share the exact same birthday and each year they give each other a spoon as a present. This year there is an exception to the tradition when Jin and kevin send Cora and Doireann their aunt on a week long cruise in AMerica. However on return there is an extra guest called Jack Ferguson who is staying with COra. The 2 daughters are unhappy about this and the story deals with how they try to make Jack leave Cora .

For more of the storyline you will have to read the book. This book is well worth the money. Its a fantastic story.

On the back cover it states:

"Andie Corcoran and her sister Jin have never seen eye to eye. Andie doesntenvy Jin her luxury lifestyle and a marriage to a wealthy business man, while Jin can't believe Andie is happy with her quiet and man-free existence [if she only knew].

But when their widowed mother Cora comes back from a Caribbean cruise with more than just a suntan, Andie and Jin are united in horror. Who is this gorgeous young man who has swept their mother off her feet. And what exactly does he want. And if thats not enough, both sisters are about to face crises of their own.

What they really need is a friend to set the world to rights with - but can they be friends with each other........................"
