I have these wireless cards in all my new Apple computers and they work perfectly with all wireless networks I've needed to join at home and away. This card is far more powerful and speedy than it's predecessor, and the original Airport card is excellent quality also, so it had a lot to live up to. If you run an older Apple computer I'm afraid you will have to stick with the old Airport card as the new Airport Extreme card is a different shape and size (the old one will connect to newer networks using "g" though).
The new Airport Extreme allows you to run a faster network connection and it holds a stronger signal over a wider area, making it great for business or home use. The price of this card has dropped dramatically since it's introduction, it now retails for around £30.00 from official retailers but I'm sure you could pick it up cheaper elsewhere like Ebay. This card unlike the older version will also allow you to join new 802.11n draft technology networks which are faster at streaming and sharing film and music as well as b and g networks. you will be able to get excellent wireless internet, computer to computer networking and wireless printing wherever you go, the Apple software you get with it makes it so easy to set up. Installing the card couldn't be easier, it's basically a plug and play set up, open up the Airport Extreme wireless card slot in your machine and slot it in and hook it up (in Apple laptops you will find this behind the battery slot). The card comes with full instructions for installation and you can join any network that you have authorised access to no matter what brand the wireless hub is.
The AirPort Extreme provides a range up to 50 feet at 54 Mbps and up to 150 feet at 11 Mbps for AirPort Extreme-enabled computers, but this will vary depending on your surroundings, all wireless technology is suseptable to interference from pylons, overhead cables, walls and microwaves and these variables may slightly change your connection speed but you will get a good connection, generally better than a PC using a wireless card would I have found.
To use a an airport extreme card you will need the following system requirements:
The AirPort Extreme Card can be installed only in computers that are AirPort Extreme ready. AirPort Extreme Cards cannot be used in AirPort-ready computers with an AirPort Card slot.
Requires Mac OS X 10.2.7 or later and AirPort Admin Utility software version 3.1.1 or later to administer an AirPort Extreme Base Station.
Wireless printing over USB requires Mac OS X v10.2.7 or later.
* This AirPort Extreme Card is not compatible with the Mac Pro or the Power Mac G5 Dual and Power Mac G5 Quad computers introduced in October 2005.
All in all this is a quality wireless card and comes pre-installed in most new Apple computers now, it's the only option for an internal wireless option for new Apple computers, the price is good, very competitive when compared to other brands and superior to most high end PC branded cards.
Only drawback is that a couple of Internet service providers don't support Apple wireless systems on their broadband networks, but if you own an Apple already you will know who you can use for broadband services, if not it's easy enough to check or change to a new provider.
Advantages: Makes your computer wireless. Disadvantages: A bit fidly to install
...bought the card from the Apple Store and this was as usual as painless as ever until it was handed to the carriers. UPS subcontracted the delivery to Coopers carriers who lost it and sent it back to their depot .when they did eventually find it they attempted to return it to Apple even though their operative advised that he had forwarded it to me. It finally arrived three days late. This was the carriers fault not Apple. On speaking to Apple they ... ...Quality
As with all Apple hardware the quality is excellent (possibly ipod excepted) I am hoping that the reliability will be as good as the i book it is installed in (now three years old without a hitch)
Conclusion
If you are thinking about getting one but are worried about compatability without the Apple base station there really is no need it works with the BT hub fantastically and has excellent coverage all over the house. It does everything ...

Advantages: easy to install Disadvantages: not cheap
The Airport extreme card allows apple users to connect to wireless networks. It is simple to install, all i had to do was remove the battery of my powerbook then slide the card into the slot provided. Then connect the antenna to the card and replace the battery. Even though it was so simple the instrtuctions provided were very helpful and clear.
The software instalation of the product was also very simple insert the disc, follow the instructions ... ...airport wireless card allows an apple computer to connect to any other wireless device, however the main uses for myself are to connect to the internet and transfer files over small wireless LAN. In both cases the card made the process simple and easy. When i switch on my laptop (powerbook G4) the card automatically connects to a wireless router which is constantly connected to the internet. This setup means that to get on the internet at home all ...

Advantages: Installation: Just plug it in! Disadvantages: No user manual.
I got a TiBook on eBay a while back & after much research (getting an AppleAirport b-speed internal card, 3rd party USB adapters, etc.) I decided to buy the Sonnet Aria Extreme PCMCIA card.
Very good choice I made.
What surprised me most is how seamlessly it integrated into my OS (I combo-updated to Tiger's max, v10.4.11). And it WORKED, first time!
A few days later I DL'd the tiny (7K, believe it or not! A welcome ANOMALY these days!) freeware "Broadband Optimizer", by enigmarelle.com, for the purpose of making sure that Tiger can handle the g-speeds that the Aria card is capable of providing. And now, WOW.
If you're a TiBook owner, do yourself a favor & forget searching for g-speed solutions. Save yourself the time. Just get yourself one of these Aria PCMCIA cards.
It is THE BEST & really, the simplest solution to getting ...
Advantages: Good laptop, easy to use, good software bundle Disadvantages: Expensive, expensive software, not 100% PC compatible
great because you can tell whether you need to charge your laptop without powering it on. Underneath the battery is a small slot for the addition of an AirportExtremecard; Apple's proprietary version of a WiFi card (more later).
Unlike most other laptops, this Powerbook has no ports situated on the back; the entire area behind the screen is taken up by small vents to allow cooling of the system. And herein lies one of the best secrets of the Powerbook - there are no fans for cooling in this laptop allowing the unit to run silently (except for when the CD drive is in action). The sexy aluminium casing twinned with the vents at the back of the laptop mean that cooling fans are unnecessary, keeping the noise generated to an absolute minimum.
As for the bundled software, you get a copy of Mac OS X (10.3 - the latest version available ...
Advantages: Beautiful retro design, huge screen, never crashes! Disadvantages: Potential build quality problems, lack of preinstalled memory
is seemingly inpenetrable, apart from a small slot for memory and battery replacement, cleverly hidden in the base. The CD tray opens like a flap (it actually looks like the Mac is sticking its tongue out when it opens!), and is sturdily attached - this is also the access point if installing an AirPortExtremecard. IP addresses are printed inside the flap for easy networking, and the machine has plenty of ports built in to keep it compact.
--> WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
When I first saw the eMac, I must admit, I thought it was ugly! A picture on the Apple site showed it as a bland white blob. "Why would anyone want one of those instead of a tangerine iMac?" I thought - and quickly dismissed it.
It wasn't until I was wndering aimlessly around the Mac section of my local PC World that the eMac caught my eye - and wow, did it look ...

Apple's AirPort Extreme wireless networking products let you surf the Internet from almost anywhere in your home or business, and enable schools to provide Internet access to multiple students without installing expensive cabling. AirPort Extreme uses a brand new wireless standard called 802.11g. And because AirPort Extreme uses radio waves for communication, it can even work through walls.Add an internal AirPort Extreme Card for each AirPort Extreme-ready system you want to bring onto a wireless network.
