I'm an Apple user through-and-through. Though I'm writing this on a PC! I bought this screen to go with my G5 Powermac and installation couldn't be easier. When you first set eyes on it you can't help but admire its elegance and design.
Its clarity is superb and you can view it from almost any angle without a substantial loss of quality. The depth and contrast is perfect for photo editing and gaming. Its fast response also helps with fast moving subjects. Text is exceptionally sharp.
The viewing area, on screen, is plenty for photo and video editing. Both take up a lot of room - especially video editing. I have a 15.4" screen on my laptop and, having used the Apple screen, i struggle to use it for video editing. It's just too cramped. The Apple screen gives you loads of space and feels quite 'airy' - if you see what i mean.
Another nice feature is the USB (x2) and Firewire (x2) ports on the back. These make up for the lack of slots on the computer.
One tiny issue though is the amount of cabling. When set up you'll have a power lead, USB and Firewire cables and the DVI cable to the computer. If you use the USB and Firewire ports on the back that'll be even more cabling. But, if you buy a nice desk, you'll never see any of it.
Prices are much better now than when i bought mine - this is why i can give this 5/5. And though other manufacturers may boast a higher spec than the Apple screen, on closer inspection they're not as good. The latest thing is glossy screens - and although very bright and colourful (so's the Apple by the way!) - they aren't as sharp, they reflect light, and the viewing angles just can't beat the Apple display. Having said that they are cheaper.
Not everyone can afford this screen, but if you can - buy it! It's digital connection (check you have a DVI slot) should mean it'll work with computers for many years to come.
Advantages: Large screen Disadvantages: Sometimes cant find a place to put i!!

Advantages: Huge screen, brilliant resolution, sharp picture, great from any angle. Disadvantages: Expensive and incompatible.
...I recently wrote a review of the Apple G4 cube. If you read it, you’ll know that I was raving about this monitor.
At 22 inches, it looks terrific even before it’s been switched on. Maybe it’s partly because I’m used to using a 15” monitor myself, but when I saw the CinemaDisplay’s size and profile, it was like watching an episode of “Tomorrow’s World”.
The monitor has a top resolution of 1600 by 1024 pixels. At this size, you can easily fit an A3 sized document (or two pages of A4 side by side) into the middle of the screen with plenty of room for pallets, etc. around it. At the top resolution, you can still do word processing, etc. without the words being too small to read. Sadly, most games don’t support such a high resolution, but if you set the resolution lower, you still get a respectable view.
While the resolution is...

Advantages: Widescreen display Disadvantages: Could be a little cheaper
...Well what can I say, a perfect display from a top notch company. Expect nothing less than perfect with Apple products. I used to be a huge PC fan but with the Intel chips and great designs of the Macs these days i'm really into my Apple products these days. As a Systems Administrator at a large design firm, I have recommended these products over another alternative (Formac for instance) ok so the Appledisplay costs quite a bit extra, but it's money well spent. The Formacs display quality cannot even begin to compare with the Appledisplay. The resolution is great and as with all LCD screens, the refresh rate is best viewed at 60hz for optimum performance. These will soon be replacing all of our CRT LaCie monitors as they're nowhere near as bulky/heavy and offer even better quality....

Advantages: Stunning quality and big size Disadvantages: VERY expensive!
...This monitor is the best in existence, and by the end of this I hope to convince you of this fact.
Let's start with compatibility. Now, this is the tricky one. Essentially, it will only work with Apple powermacs that were built over the past couple of years, as it uses Apple's proprietary connector, the AppleDisplay Connector. This has the advantage of sending power, digital image signal and USB over the one cable. However, you might be able to get a conversion box that would allow you to connect it to a DVI-out or a vga out, but the box might cost up to 300 pounds.
Image wise, it is a beauty, sporting a 22 inch widescreen flat-panel LCD screen. Yes, thats large enough for 2 A4 pages, with room for pallets. The resolution is slightly lower than you might expect at 1600x1024, but this is extremely bright and clear, and items...
