The Apple Drive Module (ADM) is a hot-pluggable Serial ATA hard drive in a special drive carrier module designed for easy server upgradeability and maintenance. Apple Drive Modules are available in 80GB, 250GB or 500GB sizes and operate at 7200 rpm and are equipped with 8MB disk cache. Using up to three ADMs, the Xserve G5 can be configured from 80 to 1500 gigabytes of internal storage. Unpopulated bays ship with a blank drive carrier which can be replaced with a drive module at any time - even if the server is running - so its easy to add storage capacity as your server needs grow. Each ADM has two LED activity lights - one indicating drive activity and one indicating drive status. All Apple Drive Modules support SMART - Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology - allowing the hardware monitoring tools including with Xserve G5 to monitor the status of each hard drive and report pre-failure warnings before problems occur.
Advantages: This great machine offers many upgradable options and very easy to install Disadvantages: it is rather big and heavy to move around
...I moved to apple from PC 5years ago and have never looked back the hardware and software and technical help you receive is second to non. I upgraded from an IBOOK G3 to the powermac G4 mainly for the option to expand in hardware such as more ram, harddrive size and other extras like TV cards etc. for this reason alone very quickly and easily i was able to run a 2gb ram, 500gbharddrive G4 supercomputer with TV card too and for a fraction of the cost if i were to buy it all pre-installed. So this computer allows a complete novice to open up and add RAM, HD and PCI card upgrades easily, and for that alone it should win awards. But awards should also go to the overall design, look and feel of the machine and not just the tech speck. for this machine is not a boring magnolia or black box that you would want to hide away if it were a PC...

Advantages: a joy to use, good software, easy to get to grips with. Disadvantages: not all software is available on the Mac, C4 online for eg.
...it’s way to creating not only electronic devices, but a whole new lifestyle.
In the fall of 2001 consumers saw the rise of the iBook and the PowerBook G4 as new personal and portable computers. Apple had created a digital hub concept where everything was available through Apple making it easier for consumers to decide with PC was better for them because an Apple computer offered it all. And in early 2003 the world was shown the iPod a revolution in the storing of music, for personal use, leading to the iTunes store and leading to more variations of the iPod, with the Nano and the shuffle all becoming prominent in today’s digital market.

I bought this hard drive for £101 and it has been a pleasure to use. It's a doddle to set up and install and the fast rate of transfer makes file sharing very efficient and easy.

Once I bought the iPhone I was dying for another bite of the Apple. I have a huge and ever expanding collection of music and therefore need a large MP3 player to hold it all on. The iPhone is great, but with a 16GB hard drive it just isn't quite large... more
