The Apple Drive Module (ADM) is a hot-pluggable Serial ATA hard drive in a special drive carrier module designed for easy server upgradeability and maintenance. The 74GB Apple Drive Modules operates at 10, 000 rpm and is equipped with 8MB disk cache. 80, 250, and 400GB Apple Drive Modules are also available operating at 7, 200 rpm. Using up to three ADMs, the Xserve G5 can be configured from 74 to 1200 gigabytes of internal storage. Unpopulated bays ship with a blank drive carrier which can be replaced with a drive module at any time - even if the server is running - so its easy to add storage capacity as your server needs grow. Each ADM has two LED activity lights - one indicating drive activity and one indicating drive status. All Apple Drive Modules support SMART - Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology - allowing the hardware monitoring tools including with Xserve G5 to monitor the status of each hard drive and report pre-failure warnings before problems occur.
Advantages: a joy to use, good software, easy to get to grips with. Disadvantages: not all software is available on the Mac, C4 online for eg.
...it’s way to creating not only electronic devices, but a whole new lifestyle.

Advantages: Fast machine for its time, easy to maintain Disadvantages: Now replaced by the Mac Pro Intel machines
...the memory slots and drive bays is very easy - much easier than most Windows machines I've dealt with.
The machine has a full range of USB and Firewire connections both on rear and front panels. It comes with Gigabyte Ethernet Connectivity. You get a DVR-R writer and 160G SATA harddrive. The case is almost like a piece of sculptor! Internally you also have PCI-Express slots but there are very few suppliers of these cards for Apple machines.
Our machine has been running in an Art gallery supporting two different video installations for the last 5 months without any problems and we'll install Mac OSX Server on it to use as a web server in future.
So if Apple UK still has stock or they have some refurbished machines AND you still need a 64bit PPC machine, the Power Mac G5 Dual might be for you....

Once I bought the iPhone I was dying for another bite of the Apple. I have a huge and ever expanding collection of music and therefore need a large MP3 player to hold it all on. The iPhone is great, but with a 16GB hard drive it just isn't quite large... more
For the best part of 5 years my MP3 player has been part of my mobile phone, for whatever reason (I can't explain it myself) I have felt the need to separate the two for some time; however I never really liked any MP3 player on the market. And let me... more
