Finally I have almost paid back this mac on the apple finance 6 month interest free MBNA deal and I have to say I love this mac! If i didn't had a girlfriend, i would take this to bed with me to keep me warm! this originally cost me £1200 from apple but you can buy refurbished ones from the apple.com/uk site under the store. i bought the apple care extended warranty but my feeling is i never will have to apple things rarely break down.
It is almost as sexy dare I say. LOL. if anybody wanted a computer with a superfast brain in an all in one kit then this is it. It is a flatscreen with a helluva lot of power stuffed inside it. the Intel core duo 2.16ghz cpu is super fast and the 16.9 screen is a marvellous addition. This is the quietest machine i have ever seen. I got the fright of my life one night when i left the machine turned on overnight and i woke up tin the middle of the night to the noise of a cockerel screaming out its morning chime! i realised it was my mac annoucing to me it was morning!
The keyboard is simple and elegant along with the mightymouse which comes either wired or wireless for you to choose and a pc mouse like wheel which lets you scroll up and down and also left to right which is superb, apple think of everything. the wireless/wired ethernet settings are easy to set up, simply enter your password/wep key and you are onto the home network.
OSX Leopard is soon to arrive in October which will be fantastic with the addition of the time machine which lets you recover old files (photos, movies etc) that you deleted by mistake.
This mac comes with frontrow and a apple remote which sticks neatly to the right side of the imac magnetically so to not lose it in places! you have ichat on the mac which you can connect to aol instant messenger with and obviously you can download all the additional things you require like msn messenger or mozilla firefox.
I have this machine connected to a Dell W3203MC tv monitor via a mini dvi cable and play my movies through it with quicktime or idvd and they are perfect.
the photobooth (webcam) is also highly amusing with the various filters and effects you can do on it (fish eye and warp people faces) also you can connect this to you xbox360 via connect360 so you do not just have to have a media center pc to connect nowadays.
P.S. if you feel you would still like to have a windows pc aswell you can install Parallels Desktop 3.0 on here and get windows xp on your machine running simultaniously, ideal for connecting hardware that isn't mac complaint or simply for playing those pc games you thought you would have to sell on ebay!
Thank you for taking the time to read. hope you havent fallen asleep. :)
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: The mighty mouse takes some getting used to
...allowed me to try the Apple brand without spending too much money.
I loved the Apple product so much that after 12 months of using the Mac Mini I went out and bought an iMac 20" 2.16Ghz core 2 duo. I love it!
My mac mini had OSX Panther installed and now I have OSX Tiger which has so many little improvements over Panther such as Dashboard - I have my calculator, google mail checker, webcam viewer and other little bits and bobs which all pop up ... ...OSX Leopard due soon, it's never a better time to get on the Mac bandwagon - there's no stopping it.
Go and get one you won't regret it!
If there is no Apple Store near you, nip down to PC World and test drive one of the machines instore. ...

Advantages: Very fast / Reliable / Safe / Simple / Looks great Disadvantages: Somewhat expensive
...also consider buying their extended apple support package, as you can relax for three years.
A word of advice, if you are used to a PC mouse, perhaps you should stick to a two button mouse. Apple mice look good, true, but that right hand button is really useful, in my opinion! Any good brand of mice will sell wireless ones which you can plug to a USB port and be fully compatible with macs. At least don't splurge on one of those apple supermice until ... ...The screen is brilliant, has excellent definition and, as I said, is vast. For the first time in my life I'm only using part of the screen to work in a word processor.
It comes with speakers, webcam and microphone built in. No wires and compatibility problems again.
The processor is super fast and the graphics card has been able to handle anything I've thrown at it so far. I work with genealogy programs and sometimes need to work with databases ...

...if you really wanted to.
Apple offer 'Applecare Protection' which is highly recommended. Your iMac will come with 12 months cover but the extension to three years is worth it. The Apple Store run free training for all of the Software that come on the iMac, but the limited numbers of stores in the UK can make this difficult for new users to Apple computers. ...

Advantages: Simply stunning both in looks and ingenuity Disadvantages: Ability to upgrade parts - can only really change memory RAM
...months ago via the online Apple site and it has never faltered. This bit of kit comes in a tidy all in one screen! No more a massive desktop clump of heavy machinery lying on the floor to keep your feet warm over those winter months. I use my Imac for design/media purposes mostly but have just discovered that I can now connect my Xbox 360 up to my imac so i can stream movies music and pictures to it via the program connect360! fantastic! this also ... ...the imac screen via magnets! Apple thing of everything! Another advantage of this mac is that it is one of the quietest machines I have ever used, comparing this to PC\'s you can quite comfortably leave it on overnight if you so require. One thing I find very ingenious is the mini DVi port which allows you to connect another monitor to it so to extend your screen, for example, watch movies on a second screen while working on the other screen, ideal ...

Advantages: Very fast, great screen quality, lots of storage space, loads of pre-installed software. Disadvantages: OSX takes up quite a lot of HD space!
...say how much i back apple up now with their products. SETTING UP:
You may all know that when you buy a pc you have to install all the disks and everything that came in the box, well with the IMac i just took it out of the box, turned it on and went through the initial setup. Then in 15 mins with no disks at all all the software was up to date, no worries at all, no popups nagging you every 15 mins and NO RESTART which was brilliant. Installing the ... ...aswell, i just put the disk in, dragged the file to the hard drive and your done, no hassle like you get with a pc!
The only thing that i can see as a bad point was the hard drive space, the system that i bought has a 250GB HD but the first time i turned it on there was only 201GB free, so OSx must be taking up a lot of storage space then!
The software that came with the imac was great, itunes, safari, garage band, iphoto, hd dvd creater, mail ...
