The LaserWriter 12/640 PS printer is a mainstream network laser printer designed for midsize to large businesses, higher education institutions, Macintosh and non-Macintosh networks, and graphics and desktop publishing environments. It supports Adobe PostScript Level 2 programming functions and produces printed pages at a rate of up to 12 letter-size pages per minute. The LaserWriter 12/640 PS printer supports 600 dpi resolution. FinePrint can be selected to smooth text and line art. FinePrint technology gives the printer the ability to print dots of different widths, producing crisper text and graphics. The printer also supports PhotoGrade printing. This is a technology that enables the LaserWriter 12/640 PS printer to print photographs with as many as 97 shades of gray. PhotoGrade can designate more than one level of gray for each pixel by controlling the size of the dots. Photographs printed using PhotoGrade technology retain a higher level of detail than that achieved by other 600-dpi laser printers. The imaging system runs two Page Description Language (PDL) interpreters: Adobe PostScript and Hewlett Packard's Page Control Language (PCL). An intelligent PDL sensing algorithm can switch between PDLs while the LaserWriter 12/640 PS is printing. The LaserWriter 12/640 PS printer works with several network interfaces simultaneously by means of its three I/O ports: the Ethernet port, the LocalTalk port, and the parallel port. The I/O processor supports active port switching among the three ports.

...The iBook G4 is a great little machine. I bought mine 2 weeks ago and would highly recommend. At first I thought it would be a long and laborious process getting used to the differences between a pc and a Mac (having always used pc's and never Macs) but the software is a doddle to use and the Apple support website is incredibly thorough. The iBook is a beautifully designed laptop and the keyboard is a joy to use. My only slight niggle is the fact that any Apple accessories and software are not readily available in the shops. Unless you purchase over the internet or visit the one of only two Apple shops in the country (which are in London and Birmingham) you will be hard pushed to find a retail outlet selling a decent range of Apple products.
This said, I love my iBook and wouldn't change it for the world!...

Advantages: Portable, it's an Apple Disadvantages: Pricey, quite heavy
...Being an Apple it is an exelent peice of kit. I brought mine from Apple back in september 2005 and it is still running fine.
The major advantages of this is that it runs on Apple OS X so it is as stable as a rock. Not once has it crashed on me since i brought it. The battey life is exceptionable (around 6 hours). The software included is top notch. Even running on a basic 512MB of RAM it still can run many progams at once. It also comes with bluetooth so it can interface with newer mobile phones easiely. The design is flawless, nothing protruding so there's nothing to break off or get snaged. The slot loading super-drive runs extremely quitely and can burn CDs and DVDs
the downsides to the computer is that is is quite heavy and it gets hot quite quickly and being white, dirt and stains from tying show up after a couple of months...

...After owning a Powerbook G4 previously, I needed a replacement - I looked around and considered buying a Sony Vaio - but ended up back with Apple and purchased the MacBook Core 2 Duo with Intel processor.
I went for the smallest one of the 3 - only because it was purely for home use. I only use it for surfing the internet, downloading pictures and music so I did not need to much memory. Plus I have an external hardrive should I need to free up space.
The software you get with a Mac is excellent -everything is much more 'friendly' compared to Microsoft - OK, Vista has arrived - but when you look at it Apple was doing all that years ago! PlusApple have a new software edition called Tiger which comes out October 2007 which will knock socks off Vista.
