"Nice!"

I bought this for all the amazing creative programs this has on. You can probably tell by my profile that I love music. So I decided to get this for the garageband program that is included.

First of all, this laptop looks great. When ever a family member or friend sees it they always comment on how nice it looks. It's the perfect size and is very easy to carry around the house.

I thought the screen size would be a bit small (being used to a 19" desktop screen), but it really wasn't. It's very easy to get used to. Recently I added another desktop so I have extended the length of it (sorry, it's quite hard to explain). But even without the extra length it's great.

Buying a Mac meant that I had to switch to using Mac OSX instead of Windows. It's really easy to navigate around and it seems to 'flow' a lot more than windows.

The programs that come with this are really amazing. Garageband is an amazing piece of kit. It's really professional and is like a simpler (maybe better) version of Cubase. I know that my Bass guitar teacher absolutely loves this program and favours it to others! I don't have much experience with Iphoto but the one thing I noticed it lacked was 'Paint' like features (This is also a feature that is missing from the mac as a whole!). Imovie HD is a great piece of kit. I use it to cut down videos. I have had a mess around with the video and audio effects you can add and they are all great!

One of my favourite features is the built in Isight camera. Photo booth is a great feature with loads of effects and makes pictures lots of fun. The Isight is also great for applications like Skype, the video runs really smoothly and there's also a microphone built in too.

The hard drive space on this is acceptable, although a little small for me because I have a fair amount of music and other large files. So I'm going to have to buy an External hard drive or replace the current one in my mac which I don't really want to do.

The power cable sometimes worries me, the actual pack which is about half way down the cable gets extremely hot when it's in for long periods of time. I'm sure this is perfectly normal but heat on electrical products is always pretty worrying. The bottom of the mac also gets quite hot, so it is probably best to have it on a flat surface so it can get some ventilation to the bottom.

Oh, there's something I remember about Iphoto, I was really impressed with this. On Iphoto you can get a set of photos you want in an album put them in a folder. Then with a click of a button you can order the pictures to be printed, organized and put in a real photo book. You get to choose exactly how the book looks and everything! My Bass teacher did this whole process and the results were phenomenal.

I was slightly disappointed that it was not compatible with normal desktop monitors. This is understandable because the connector would need to be pretty small anyway. I recently bought a converter for about £15 that lets me use any normal monitor.

Also, one problem I can never seem to get used to is the lack of .exe compatibility. No windows programs work on mac! I can't stand it. I guess I should have been expecting it as I was changing to a totally new operating system but I never thought it would be this annoying. There are ways around it though, sometimes there is a mac version of the same program and sometimes there are other programs similar to the one you were looking for but for mac instead... It's all just a google search away!

That's all I can think of for now! It's late, give me a break! :D

I wouldn't say no to one of these, but it wouldn't be my first choice, I'll stick with my HP Pavillion for now, very helpful review

Nice review. Just a small thing, the i lines are normally written iSight, iPhoto etc. To run windows applications on a Mac you can either look at virtualization (run Windows in a window on your Mac) or BootCamp (have both Windows and OSX installed on your Mac)

Manufacturer's product description

The sleek MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase). It features a seamless, durable unibody enclosure with rounded contours that make it easy to pick up and slide into and out of your bag. It's made of rugged polycarbonate that withstands the rough and tumble of everyday life at school, at work, or while traveling. And since the bottom of the MacBook is covered in a nonslip material, it always stays right where you put it - whether it's on a desk, table, or airplane tray. MacBook features an LED-backlit glossy widescreen display for a spectacular viewing experience. Documents, videos, photos, and games look incredibly sharp and detailed. The LED backlighting delivers stunning colors and instant full-screen brightness the moment you open the lid. MacBook portability doesn't happen at the expense of key features. The keyboard is full size, with keys that are curved to contain your fingers and highly responsive to your touch. Its low-profile design integrates perfectly into the unibody enclosure, so you'll get a comfortable experience whether you're typing a quick email or writing a lengthy research report. The connections and ports on MacBook are all smartly integrated on the same side of the notebook. So your cables stay neatly organized, and connecting and disconnecting your devices is easy and convenient. MacBook is as well designed on the inside as on the outside. Turn it over and you'll notice a seamless, sturdy, single-piece bottom case with no battery compartment. That's because the lithium-polymer battery is strategically built right into the enclosure. In addition to providing extra overall durability, this integrated design eliminates the space-consuming parts required by a removable battery. This allows more room for a larger-capacity battery and provides an even longer battery life - all in an enclosure that is thin and light. When you remove the bottom case, you'll discover a clean, simple interior layout that makes it easy to add more memory or a larger hard drive. MacBook delivers the power of the Intel Core 2 Duo and a slew of innovative features, including a built-in iSight camera for video chatting on the go, iLife '06, Front Row, and a glossy 13-inch widescreen display. Good design leaves nothing to chance. Great design anticipates it. No surprise, then, that MacBook features little touches - like a klutz-proof power adapter and a nifty magnetic latch - that make your computing experience as streamlined as MacBook itself. No power cord, no Ethernet cable, no headphone jack, no wires. No problem. With a long battery life and built-in AirPort and Bluetooth, you can get online virtually anywhere. It's not magic. It's MacBook.
