Advantages Quality build, great design, great features, fast

Disadvantages Small storage, expensive, can get hot and noisy

It's true when people say you have to experience a piece of Apple once in your lifetime.

Mac better than Windows?

In some ways, yes. For a first time computer user, the Mac OS can seem a lot more simple (lower maintenance) to use. Installing a program involves dragging a file into a folder. No complicated registry stuff like Windows. But due to its simplicity, it feels like you have less control over how your computer is running.

What does feel great is the multi-touch trackpad. Never have I come across such a smooth and responsive trackpad. Ever used an iPhone or iPad? It feels just like that but on a bigger screen. Learn all the gestures to flick through windows and you'll be automatically making the same gestures on a Windows laptop by mistake and being frustrated when nothing happens.

However, I could never completely switch to Mac OS. Simply because of compatibility. I have so many programs that I need to use which does not exist in the Mac world. That is why my desktop at home is Windows.

Macbook Air 11.6"

When the Air first came out I was still a teenager, and I envied the "rich" teachers slipped their novelty wafer thin macbook out of their bags. But now I can afford life's little luxuries and it feels great to have my own.

The screen isn't too small, I can type and read websites with ease while the smallness is great for portability. Now that my laptop is only 1cm and a bit thick, every laptop that I see lying around looks big and clunky and unnatural. I've always had an eye for design and quality and have felt bad when manufactures don't put so much effort into making their products. But with Apple, their product line is exactly to my taste. Anything lesser of quality feels "not right".

Even though it is small and light, it still holds a wealth of features. Backlit keyboard, fast processor, nice big RAM, brilliant screen, multi-touch trackpad... The list goes on. The SSD is super fast. Turning the thing on is so much quicker than the macbook pro. However there is quite limited storage, I recommend getting the 128Gb one as you will run out.

The downsides to the Macbook Air include its high price. But you get what you pay for. You won't be disappointed with the quality of manufacture, it feels incredibly sturdy for such a fragile looking object. The Air is a piece of art, but one that makes sense.

Unfortunately after a few months you will notice some wear (permanently shiny) areas on the black keyboard keys from constant typing. I've also noticed that sometimes when running a processor hungry program the bottom can heat up considerably, which is when the little fan spins inside. Otherwise it's silent in its normal operation.
