Jack7hardy has done an awesome job reviewing this laptop so my review will be brief to avoid covering things he already mentions in his excellent review.

My son bought this for university ( Macs seem to the only laptops that are worthy of any attention in my sons circle of friends, I now see why). Apple also offer 14% off everything they sell if you are a student. He carried it on the tube daily and I feel this is relevant as it needed to be strong and durable for the amount of moving around and use it was getting. The outside casing got scratched from being pulled in and out of his rucksack but aside from that there was no other damage. That issue has been resolved with the really cool graphic decals that you can get from ebay, hides a multitude of sins.

He purchased the extra cover from Apple and within the first year he had spilled something on it and they replaced the entire keyboard. You would never know that anything had been changed, the repair was quick, professional and flawless.

He then decided he wanted the newer, more powerful black mac and passed this white one on to me, I had it for six months and worked online with it daily. One of the sites I work for only has windows compatible software so I installed VMWARE Fusion and it allowed me dual boot ( run windows as a secondary operating system). Obviously there is extra expense involved here as the VMware had to be purchased along with a new version of Windows, but it worked fine. It didnt slow anything down and when I wasnt working I didnt boot windows up.

Three months ago my son decided it was time to upgrade AGAIN, and he purchased the new macbook pro, so I now have the black mac and the white one that I am reviewing here now belongs to my 15 year old.

We also own two wireless 'mighty mouses' ( mice?) and you just buy it, put batteries in and switch it on and hey presto is works, forget installation CDs and all that nonsense. The mouse is the coolest thing you ever saw although it does only come in white and would be even cooler if you could get it in black or silver to match the other macbooks.

The power supply is magnetic, it literally pulls the cable towards the socket once it gets close, so plugs that snap or need to be jiggled around to work or end up leaving half the metal in the machine are a thing of the past. This just does what its supposed to do with no hassle.

So three owners, ( albeit in the same family), three very different users with different requirements and needs and every one of us very satisified. So much so that we now own two additonal macs and none of us would EVER consider buying a Windows PC again EVER. ( FOREVER EVER).

A few people have expressed to me that they would buy one of they were not so expensive and my response is that if there was ever an example of getting what you pay for, this is IT

In the past I have owned windows laptops and had issues with power sockets, fragility ( screens getting broken), numerous keys falling off no matter how gentle you are, and dont even get me started on all the viruses, error messages, system freezes and stuff that just refuses to install. These Macs JUST WORK BEAUTIFULLY, no stress, no nonsense, no worries. I have also noticed recently that since the launch of the Pro and Air , this particular model has come way down in price so its even more attractive.
