Being a PC user my entire life, my decision to purchase a Mac was not without hesitation. Having always been a Windows user, and having dabbled with Linux, I was not sure whether or not Mac OS X would give me the same level of flexibility to which I was accustomed, in terms of flowing between word processing, entertainment and the internet.
My primary reason for purchasing a Mac was that I had heard many good things about iMovie and the iLife suite in general and, having tried many of the Windows video editing applications without much joy, I decided to take the plunge and spend the cash on the middle of the range unit. My concerns however were that the 2.0GHz model with 2GB of memory and the 160GB hard drive would not suffice for my video editing needs. The Apple salesman assured me that it would definitely get the job done and that the only reason to opt for the more expensive 2.4GHz unit would be if I required the backlit keyboard or additional disk space. I charged it to my card and was on my way, proud to have finally joined Team Apple.
On arriving home, and after washing my hands thoroughly, I proceeded to unpack my new Macbook. The configuration wizard is super intuitive and within minutes, I was ready to browse the internet, collect email, and begin working my way through the 10 MiniDV tapes worth of video footage that I had taken in the Far East. All of the good things that I had heard about iMovie were indeed true. iMovie makes video editing a breeze and allows even a non-seasoned wannabe producer to create professional looking content. Sharing the video with iDVD, also in the iLife suite, is a one-click process and generating awesome looking menus from within iDVD is another 8 or 9 clicks. The time to render and cut a 50 minute movie with menus takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the effects and included media, e.g. music or slideshows.
It is now 2 months since I bought my Macbook and not once have I ever doubted my decision. The 160GB disk space is not an issue for me while I prefer to use an external 7200RPM USB2 drive instead, especially for my video editing work. The new multi-touch trackpad is legendary in its own right and makes manipulating photos in iPhoto and Preview a no-brainer. The improved graphics card, a GeForce 9400M, means that all of the Adobe applications like Photoshop and Illustrator are highly responsive. The light sensitive LED backlit display is beautiful and crisp, even in a well lit environment. My only gripe is that Apple failed to include a Firewire port on the new Macbook range, and having a MiniDV camera with a firewire out, this would have come in pretty handy.
To end off, I would encourage you to look no further than the new Macbook 2.0GHz for your portable computing and home-video editing needs. This machine can pretty much do it all, and unless you need a firewire port for an external hard drive or video camera, the new Macbook 2.0GHz is a definite winner!

(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
Have never had a Mac, a friend of mine has an old one which is a nightmare when trying to get on line and it put me off, that was the old mac OS though, which explains a lot.
