Advantages great, fast, neat looking

Disadvantages quite pricey.

I needed a new laptop for when I start my nursing course in September and was debating between a windows laptop of a apple mac.Ii choose an apple mac book pro and am overly pleased with the purchase and am really glad of my decision. I have had it for a while now and really love it. I still find different things that you can do with it and it never seems to amaze me!

The whole look of the laptop is great, it looks really smart. It is a neat size, can easily be carried around and doesn't look messy on my desk. there are many different cases you can buy to slip it into to make it easier to transport and to also ensure you don't get anything split on it.

The icons on the bottom are easy to understand and they can easily be changed, adding different icons or taking away unwanted icons. The pictures they use are fairly straight forward but if you don't know what one of them is then just put the cursor over the picture and the title of the programme comes up nest to the picture.

The buttons along the top of the keypad are easy to understand and come in very handy when doing different things. For example, the sound buttons and the skip song buttons for when you are playing music in Itunes. Also the brightness buttons make it very easy to be able to adjust the lighting of the screen if it is too dull or too bright for the room you are in. I do, however, have my laptop on auto brightness which seems to be very good because when the light in the room goes down, so does the brightness of the laptop to stop it hurting your eyes.

The memory isn't a problem for me, I didn't upgrade it and i have been fine. If you were planning to do a lot of work that will take a lot of space then I would suggest you upgrade the memory when you purchase the laptop. As long as you don't transfer lots of files over from a windows PC because they take up a lot of space due to the conversion that have to be done. When you get a Mac, try to keep the files you need to a minimum and then you will be fine for space. I have so many holiday photos on my laptop and have not used much of my memory at all. I personally do not think you need to get any extra memory unless you are going to be storing lots of video files or large picture files on it.

It is really durable too, it doesn't seem to scratch at all, not that I have taken a knife to it but bracelets and watches do not scratch it. The screen can be cleaned very easily with a plain cloth, just you would like a mobile phone screen. Anything that would get rid of those sticky fingerprints that you do not want to see while you are working away on your laptop.

the dashboard it come with is really useful too. It is a black round circle looking picture but has lots of different tools in it. It has a calculator for you to be able to quickly do currency conversions on or whatever else you want, it has the weather, a calendar with the day, date and month on it and it has a world clock that you can choose what country to show. All of this can come in handy at some point, even if you do not know it yet.
