Apple presents the Power Mac G4 Cube: a supercomputer miraculously engineered into an eight-inch cube, suspended in a stunning crystal-clear enclosure. Though it's less than one...
more...quarter the size of most PCs, the G4 Cube delivers far greater performance. With its built-in Velocity Engine, the G4 processor reaches speeds of over one billion calculations per second, humbling even the fastest Pentium III, and giving you more than enough horsepower for the most demanding uses. Despite its power, the G4 Cube is amazingly unobtrusive. A revolutionary no-fan design makes it whisper quiet. The ingenious Apple Display Connector (ADC) reduces desktop clutter by putting power, video, and USB signals on a single, slim cable. And, as you'd expect from Apple, the G4 Cube gives you lots of options for accessing the Internet.

Not only does apple produce the fastest mass production laptop on this planet, it now has in its range a laptop that is better than a sub-note.

If you are wondering what a sub-note is, an example would be the SONY VIAO. The sub-note range of computers are a trade-off, this means that the subnote are inferior to laptops in order to gain in areas such as weight and size.

However, Apple has now bucked the trend.

The Apple Powerbook G4 Titanium, announced at Macworld San Francisco in January 2001 is an amazing feat of engineering.

NOT ONLY is it slimmer and lighter than at least the SONY VIAO, which is the best selling sub-ote on the market by the way, BUT IT ALSO has the power, capability and resources of a laptop, but with a screen size about 50% larger than the SONY VIAO.

From Apple's Web Site:

"Just 1 inch thick and weighing a mere 5.3 pounds, the PowerBook G4 is a heavyweight in an ultralight body - the world?s first notebook computer made of 99.5% pure grade CP1 (meaning commercially pure) titanium."

What You Get For Your Money.
------------------------------

Other than the look and design on the Powerbook G4, the new offering from Apple is typical of what is has had on offer in the past. This is not to say that it isnt good, but to say that Apple keeps on offering the best.

CONNECTIVITY --->

On the outside the Titanium offers a wide range of external connectors:

- 1 x Firewire Port
>>>Great for digital equipment and external drives.

- 1 x USB Port
>>>good for external drives and other devices such as joysticks.

- 1 x 10/100 Base-T Network Connector
>>> good for ethernet networking

- 1 built-in 56k modem
>>> good for those connecting to the net on a normal telephone service.

- 1 SVGA Video Connector
>>> excellent for attaching to an external monitor or projection equipment.

- 1 Type II PC Card/CardBus slot
>>> good for attaching additional devices or anything else through the PCMCIA card mechanism.

- 1 4Mbps IrDA infrared port for swapping files with associates without cables

ON BOARD --->

Aside from these things the Titanium has a raft of other details to its credit:

>>> 15.2" screen that plays beautiful widescreen DVD movies on the in-built DVD player at millions of colours.

>>> PowerPPC G4 Processor with Velocity Engine at Speeds upto 500Mhz. "The PowerBook G4 outguns Pentium III-based notebooks by up to 30 percent. Based on Adobe Photoshop tests comparing a 500MHz PowerBook G4 to 850MHz Pentium III-based portable computers." (Apple.com)

>>> It also has a 50-watt-hour lithium-ion battery with integrated charge indicator LEDs provides up to 5 hours of battery life.

>>> Upto 30gb of Hard Drive space inside for all those downloads off Napster!!!!

>>> 2 RAM slots for supports upto 1 GB of overall ram, comes with upto 256mb f RAM as standard.

>>> ATI Mobility Rage Graphics card with 8mb of SDRAM.

the list is endless. i could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on...... got look at the spec sheet yourself..

Overall Conclusion.
-------------------

Early reports on the powerbook are good, although there are teething problems, but in true Apple fashion these can be ironed out easily and quickly.

For anyone with a bunch of Macs already, this is a superb addition to the collectiobn and is the ideal mobile computer lab of our time.

The computer suits professional music and video artists as well as the business leaders of this world.

My tip is, if you dont already have one, go buy it now.!!!!!
