Like the manufacturers of cars, Apple seem to have embraced the idea of making smaller prettier computers for the female market - or is that just my opinion? Well, I've never seen a man with one of these, and the women I know who own them are first and foremost concerned with the prettiness of this little gem of a laptop. However, the iBook G4 is not all show and no substance. This is a perfect computer for the designer who hammers the life out of a computer and needs something fast and reliable. Though the battery, when fully charged, will only last around 4 hours.The operating system, OS X, is superior (and the forerunner to) to Windows, especially in that it doesn't try to do the work for you. It is also incredibly simple to use. Having used PC's all of my student and working life, I thought that the switch to the Apple would be daunting. But now I would never go back to the PC at home. The lightweight yet powerful nature of this computer is also ideal for showing work to clients etc - an Apple is always a show stopper! Its also great for watching your DVD's on flights to Europe, however its really a working computer, especially as there a very few really good games available for the AppleMac. My computer cost in the region of £800 including an airport card for easy internet access from the garden! Yes, you can get a cheaper PC laptop, but you will not find anything so reliable, powerful, lightweight and pretty! I would also recommend that you order an Apple from Apple directly - they know what they are talking about, and any problems are sorted immediatley without any quibbles, unlike so many other computer suppliers/manufacturers. An AppleMac for me everytime.

Advantages: Quick, Stylish & Fun Disadvantages: It uses up the battery even when switched off
...fast, durable and reliable. Apple MACs tend to be new to the people in Britain, so the Apple operating system can be confusing at first, It has some similarities to Windows but on the whole it is alot different.
People say MACs are better for handling graphics, and this laptop seems to prove that case, I have played games on this laptop that even my Desktop PC has a tough time running, Apple MAC stores are hard to find in the UK and their customer ... ...to save money, I also bought alot more software over there because its so much easier to come by.
One disadvantage is, that if you have the battery fully charged and have the laptop switched off for about a week, the battery will run flat, this laptop seems to drain the battery even when switched off, so this is somthing to be wary of.
All in all, this is a great lap top and I would deffinetly reccomend it to you! ...

My only slight niggle is the fact that any Apple accessories and software are not readily available in the shops. ...This laptop has so much to give! I purchased an Apple Mac after stupidly trying to run the Adobe creative suite, and Logic on a PC. And I have to say after trying to set up a new Vista PC last week, I will NEVER get another PC.
This Mac is a great starter point for the first time Apple buyer. It is light enough to carry around, and has a very sufficeint 6hour battery life. Having a built in cd/dvd copier is a great bonus, along with the small charger plug unlike many laptops. The screen is very clear, brilliant for design work, and the built in speakers are good enough to listen to music on or to watch a movie.
I would even recomend a Mac over a Pc, for more basic computing, such as admin tasks and internet use....

...The ibook g4 is probably one of the most popular desktops to come out of apple and quite rightly so. The ibook is a great little laptop which is lightweight and easy to carry around and with a 14 inch screen giving a perfect sized desktop. Its got a decent radeon graphics processor and comes with quicktime which can more or less play most formats and even so, the mac accepts windows media player and realtime player so you can download these with ease. It also comes with a decent array of programs inclusing a panoramic picture maker and the acclaimed garage band, where you can compose and record music very easily and to a fairly decent quality. The mac is also immune to viruses more or less, so isn't that great?
The sleek keyboard is a perfect size and adds to the look of the laptop by being so perfectly set. If you are used to PC...
