I've never owned a Mac before this little laptop. I have a windows desktop and a windows laptop but I convinced myself that I really needed a mac laptop for my work too and I splashed out as a birthday present for myself. I've never regretted that decision in the year plus since I've owned it.

I'm not a hardware techie type - so I can only give you a lay-person's impression of the machine.

It's a wonderful little computer!

I should say that when I'm not using it for testing my work it spends most of it's time in the living room where I sit on the sofa and surf the internet. I had previously used the windows laptop for this and spent a good deal of my time getting up, rebooting the router or the modem and generally messing around trying to get it to keep it's wireless internet connection. It drove me MAD!

In the year plus since I've owned this little iBook - it has dropped offline once - that's right, just once! It's entirely reliable.

When I first bought it, never having used a mac before, I really wasn't looking forward to trying to connect it up to my PC wireless network which can take an age. It went through it's little connection wizard and... it was connected in about 2 minutes! No fuss, no faff, no rebooting or swearing - truly this is how all computers should work! I can print things on my printer in the other room which is also connected up to the PC network and I can easily access files on my PC (which was a huge surprise).

Apart from occasionally missing the right-click button that I'm used to with the windows setups - it\'s a lovely smooth little operator. The OS is simply beautiful to look at (and is now being copied wholesale by certain large OS manufacturers) and offers all sorts of extra things to make your life fun - widgets are just great little micro-apps that sit at the bottom of your desktop (don't start looking at these if you have anything to do that day - it won\t get done).

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this little bundle of fun to anyone looking for a laptop.

If you get a 2 button mouse you will be able to right click, although the context sensitive menus aren't as good as windows. It's about time Apple woke up to the right clickers.
