I happened to be in desperate need to catch up with the rest of the world. It seems to be an insistent urge - what with technology changing every week. Anyways, as luck would have it I had some Singaporean money still left and I was browsing at the Changi Duty Free at Singapore airport. Something caught my eye. It was a most beautiful, orange color, sleek, modern creation which was whispering to me alluringly.."take me, honey". I asked that slim chinese girl if I could have a look. So she switches it on. Wow..what a pleasant, well designed gadget. It opens up in style. Cute buttons to switch on, lovely keypad, and a most attractive screen. I was sold. "How Much" ..i ask. To my surprise, very affordable. I pay and am on my way. Once on flight and airborne, I am like a child. I proudly display to my sleepy Japanese neighbour the wonder which is me. I create spreadsheets, I write quick tour reports, I make bar charts to impress myself. I finally feel global. One with the world.
Back at my office, my secretary loads up "Virtual PC". The magic software that converts my apple into a pc. Only when I want to. So I toggle between apple and pc. Wow. I am a complete man. I am actually ahead of the game finally. I have open to me both the worlds. And it truly feels like I am in control. I adore taking my laptop to meetings and flashing 'orange'. Everyone suddenly has renewed interest in me. Yes, I do feel in control. I wonder..is it the 'apple of my eye-book'! Or just a part of that global look-n-feel. Whatever it is, it is a statement! And the statement is ME!!
