20" Apple iMac-Amazing!

Advantages: Compact, lightweight
Disadvantages: None

I have had my iMac for a year. With a dual core processor, this is one the fastest computers on the market. While I haven't put Windows parallels on it yet, I have heard from friends and family that it does very well with the parallels and doesn't freeze. I have had five or six computers and within a few weeks they slow down with all the data I put on them. For just a little over $1000, this lightweight desktop can handle almost anything you put on it, from videos to tens of thousands of songs, to even complex video games. So whether you're the college student writing insane amounts of papers or you're the serious gamer that has to save every game you're playing, this computer can handle it--without the typical Windows defragmenting and antivirus programs. ...

iMac Dv - a personal experience

Advantages: some say it's so easy to use
Disadvantages: supposedly out of the box and connected...

I've been a PC user all my life, but back in 1999 a friend bought an iMac DV and asked me to go over to his place to configure internet access for him. So I did and here is my experience, even if limited to 2 sessions working on Mac OS8.6 Well, I did my bit. It took us a while to understand that to create an internet access you must set up a script for remote access, or he won't be able to connect if the server on the other end is WinNT. We experience problems with the line dropping every 40 seconds after connection till we configured the script and after that the connection was satisfactory. For protocols PPP, TCP/IP, DNS, it works like on a normal PC. I don't like the greyish, ghostly Mac interface particularly, and I feel it lacks depth. That is, while in Windows I am used to be able to customize the system through a huge ...

Apple iMac - A superb piece of kit

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: The mighty mouse takes some getting used to

I have been a Mac user for the last few years, my first plunge was with a Mac mini and this allowed me to try the Apple brand without spending too much money. I loved the Apple product so much that after 12 months of using the Mac Mini I went out and bought an iMac 20" 2.16Ghz core 2 duo. I love it! My mac mini had OSX Panther installed and now I have OSX Tiger which has so many little improvements over Panther such as Dashboard - I have my calculator, google mail checker, webcam viewer and other little bits and bobs which all pop up as soon as I press F12. Great touch. The computer itself is a dream to use. It came with a 250GB hard drive which is almost full now and no slowdown in performance is found. - The monitor is crisp and clean and the speakers quite powerful. I have added a small program called "shades" which ...
