If your looking for a fast slim computer with a small footprint this is it. You get all the great apple software, tiger, ilife etc. All the ports are easily acessable. If you get the bluetooth option and keyboard and mouse you have hardly any cables at all. (please not the bluetooth mouse does go through batteries though!).
This is just so easy to setup and use. This is how computing should be. I was up and running and on line in about 15mins from getting it out of the box. The setup for Tiger is so easy and you can transfer your old setup from another mac if you have a firewire cable.
I would strongly recommend this to beginners. The large screen is great for DVDs and working on graphics - really bright and clear. It's realy easy to add addtional memory as well. Specs are for the standard model 2GHz G5 processor, 250GB hard drive, 8x superdrive (double-layer DVD burning) 56K modem, USB2 ports, firewire ports, Digital audio out, Keyboard and mouse (bluetooth optional extra). 512Mb standard but would recomend at least 1Gb. Also includes iLife ( iphoto, iMovie HD, iDVD, and garageband), Appleworks and a couple of games and full version of os X tiger plus all backupdisks. Price is £1,199 more if you want larger hard drive,more memory,bluetooth etc. I got mine from the apple store (www.apple.com/uk/store) and excellent service and would throughly recommend. Build time longer if you want to customise your iMac. The only downside like all previous iMacs is expandiblity although you can easily upgrade the harddrive and the Superdrive if you want to.
A wonderful Mac. Don't be put off with Apple changing to Intel processors - Apple is fantastic at legacy/backward support. Unlike Wintel machines you can carry on using old macs for years!!! This version is slightly quicker than the first G5 iMac and now has a double - layer burning superdirve.
