Advantages: Large Display, looks fantastic, take up no room at all Disadvantages: gets quite warm and can be noisy
...can buy it from the Apple shop, although you can get it for about half the price from a PC component store. The hard drive is fantastic with a whopping 160 GB
The Operating System…
This is way ahead of Windows in my book, so I think that it may have been too advance for my friend for him to really get to grips with. With the Apple OS though, you can use the Apple operating system, and Windows software using Virtual PC. Don't tell my friend though ... ...you really should avoid buying Apple computers from CompUS (or something like that), as they tend to sell lots of damaged goods, and fake that Apple certified people work there when they actually don't. Apparently he heard all this over the net somewhere.
For gamers, then this may not be the option for you as it seems to make a lot of noise when I play games, and it seems to get hot quite quickly. It hasn't caused any problems to the system, but ...

Advantages: Fast, sleek, sexy, powerful and not a PC... Disadvantages: Accessories not as easily accessable as PC stuff
...I recently bought an Apple iMac G5 17 inch/ 2GHz and immediately upgraded the RAM instore (in about 2 minutes) to 2GB. The total cost was just over a grand and for my money I not only had a super fast computer but a very sexy stylish addition to the home.
There is no tower with this computer. It's all in the monitor. Yes, it's ALL in the monitor. Two inches thick and either 17 or 20 inches of widescrren LCD monitor. A G5-based logic board, slot-loading ... ...I have worked on Apple Cac computers since 1991 so know my way around them. Most people know and understand Windows software and will be shocked at first as to the diffences with OSX, the Apple system software, but after playing for a few days even my computer illiterate flatmate was almost an expert. She loves iLife, the Mac software that contains iTunes, iPhoto, Garageband, iMovie and iDVD. Every iMac now comes with Mac OS X Tiger, the latest release ...

Advantages: Cool, great movie authoring Disadvantages: Why didnt I buy one earlier.
...discovered the ease of the apple interface when I purchased my first iPod. How easy to use iTunes, hence did some research into Apple and video editing then took the plunge. Have had the imac G5 now for 8 months and absolutely love it. It takes a little while to get used to how to do things, but what I found is that tasks are far simpler than using the windows platform. The OSX system is excellent and comes complete with all the tools I need. I have ... ...screen! All regular experiences on my windows machines.
Safari: Excellent web browser. Itunes: The simplest and most effective music management software I have used to date. Want to burn a compilation CD, no problem. All very easy to follow and to manage.
Iphoto: Again a very simple system for managing your digital photos, and so easy to email large size files of my many photos, so the inlaws don't complain about long down load times of the mails ...

Advantages: All in one no mess on the desktop Disadvantages: None yet
...of the mac i find apple works a bit awkward as a microsoft office user. im just used to that setup and it has taken a while to adapt. The mac is certenly far superior when it comes to video and graphics work though the screen is so crisp and the processing time is very good if you are using i movies which comes with the mac then 2gb of ram may be excessive. do not buy your ram from apple though at the time of writing this apple want £400 for 2gb ...

Advantages: Small, Compacted, Wireless, Seemlessley sycronisation with other devices, Matches Ipod! Disadvantages: Rather Noisy after Using speakers,
I brought my Imac G5 about two weeks ago, I had the previous Imac also. I've upgraded to the two megahertz processor. I find the Imac almost impecable, the media centre, or Ilife 05 is absolutley brilliant. It is the perfect companion for my ipod. The only trouble I've experianced is with expanding files in the '.sit' format but I've overcome this with Stuffit. This is the best machine I have ever invested in and I have five computers, Dells, Alienwares, ... ...and that makes better, all intergrated all you need is one plug, which saves routing cables for your speakers, monitor and CPU. And ships with tiger and all the ilife extras. People this is definatley one to invest in and I'd say It works better than my alienware aurora and thats 3.4 mhz. The new Imac is so fast and all you need to do when you get it own is:
1.Remove from the box
2.place on desk
3. plug in andddd zooom your connected to the internet ...

Manufacturer's product description
The iMac G5 offers all-in-one elegance that's delightfully affordable. Take in the view on a widescreen flat-panel display. Proudly display the iMac G5 in any room of your house - it's lightweight enough to move from your kitchen to the den or bedroom. The 20-inch model shows more than two full pages of text and graphics side by side while the dazzling 17-inch provides the same screen area as a 19-inch CRT - with twice the brightness, sharpness and contrast. Hidden behind the display, you'll find the entire computer: central processing unit (CPU), logic board, hard drive, speakers, microphone and power supply. But you'll actually find that the computer just fades away as you organize music and photos, or compose tunes and edit movies with the iLife suite of integrated applications for your digital lifestyle. What's more, since the iMac is wireless-ready, you don't even have to place it near a phone jack. Simply pop in an AirPort Extreme Card (optional), hook up an AirPort Express to your DSL connection or cable modem, and you can surf the Internet wirelessly, listen to tunes in another room and print remotely.
