Advantages: Good value for money Disadvantages: Need extra memory and a bigger HDD
...I love the specs of the new iMacG5 but the main problem is that the computer itself is very noise. It's not noise all the time but when it start getting hot the fans go crazy and the noise is just to loud.
If you work on a job the requires concentration you won't be very happy with the new iMacG5 because the only way I found out to support the fan noise is to play some music along with whatever I'm doing.
All the rest seens to work well, I have 1 GIG of memory and 250 HDD and wireless and bluetooth as well. I'm using Mac OS 1.38 and all for graphic / web applications the computer is very good if you don't mind working and listening music at the same time....

Advantages: So simple, easy to use and capable of more than you could imagine. Disadvantages: Limited ability to upgrade hardware.
...I do not lie. This machine which i am curently using to type this, is amazing. It really is so easy to use, from the mouse to the desktop to the software. Everything has been designed to make stress free computing. If i want to change any setting what so ever, it is only a few very easy steps away. And for one of the most common uses of the computer, surfing the internet, apple have brought us tabs. This simple addition makes managing multiple pages a breeze. But by far the most useful and ingenious part of the applemac, is expose, with one click or squeeze, the computer instantly shows you all your open programs, meaning there is no more scanning the program bar at the bottom of the screen. I have now had this computer for 6 months and not once has it crashed, just constant fast performance. And particuarly in this model...

...This was my first new Apple in 5 years, up-to now I'd been struggling along with an early iMac.
The first thing I noticed was the size of the box, so much smaller than I'd expected, but when the base of the stand is only about 18cm deep it doesn't need to be deep. The monitor is itself only about 5cm deep, and it includes all the working of the computer.
The machine was very, very easy to set up. I positioned the monitor, plugged in the power and keyboard cables and located the ethernet slot for the network cable. Then I just turned it on, easy as that. I went through the initial set-up screen and was ready to go.
This machine looks good and performs as good as it looks. The machine I bought has the Super Drive which is a CD and DVD writer. The computer comes installed with Apples very easy to use iMovie and iDVD for editing...

Manufacturer's product description
The iMac G5 offers all-in-one elegance that's delightfully affordable. Take in the view on a widescreen flat-panel display. Proudly display the iMac G5 in any room of your house - it's lightweight enough to move from your kitchen to the den or bedroom. The 20-inch model shows more than two full pages of text and graphics side by side while the dazzling 17-inch provides the same screen area as a 19-inch CRT - with twice the brightness, sharpness and contrast. Hidden behind the display, you'll find the entire computer: central processing unit (CPU), logic board, hard drive, speakers, microphone and power supply. But you'll actually find that the computer just fades away as you organize music and photos, or compose tunes and edit movies with the iLife suite of integrated applications for your digital lifestyle. What's more, since the iMac is wireless-ready, you don't even have to place it near a phone jack. Simply pop in an AirPort Extreme Card (optional), hook up an AirPort Express to your DSL connection or cable modem, and you can surf the Internet wirelessly, listen to tunes in another room and print remotely.

Advantages: Compact and runs fast Disadvantages: Apple Customer Care!
...I recently began University and have always wanted an AppleMac ever since doing a Media Studies degree. So when my Laptop blew up it seemed like a good chance!
So I ordered my iMac direct from the apple store costing a little over £1000 for the bluetooth upgrade but got my student discount and opted for the middle entry model.
2-3 weeks to be dispatched so I sit tight, to receive an email from Apple 2.5 weeks into the order saying that computer is ready and in Shanghai but they can't take the money, they the bank has refused! Get onto my bank who have no request for the money and the money is there ready to go! ARGHHH!
So 13 calls later to Apple over 10 days they finally despatch my machine! It arrives on my last day of term and doesn't work!!!!! Spend over 6 hours over 2 days on phone to technical support charged at national...

Advantages: All in one no mess on the desktop Disadvantages: None yet
...i have recently purchased an imacg5 for editing video it has 2gb of ram and 160gb hard disk.
It is far more stable than the pc for video editing and the screen is amazing. if you are a pc user it would take a while for you to adjust to the controls of the maci find apple works a bit awkward as a microsoft office user. im just used to that setup and it has taken a while to adapt. The mac is certenly far superior when it comes to video and graphics work though the screen is so crisp and the processing time is very good if you are using i movies which comes with the mac then 2gb of ram may be excessive. do not buy your ram from apple though at the time of writing this apple want £400 for 2gb and you can get it in any pc component shop for around £250. Very impressed with apples service i found their online store cheaper than the high...
