The Apple iMac
Four years ago Apple released their very first iMac designed for the home and professional user that didn’t want a big beige box that had to be hidden away under the desk. Apple’s solution to this problem was the iMac. The previous generation of iMac’s came in many fruity colours. This year (2002) Apple has come up with a new design based on the lampshade concept.
The iMac changed the world. It was the start of a new notion that ... ...hardware is all manufactured by Apple so quality control is to a very high standard. Each iMac encompasses the latest generation of Motorola Power PC Processors aptly named the G4 Processor. The G4 processor features the Velocity engine. This Velocity Engine technology is unique in that it processes data efficiently in 128-bit unlike x86 architecture processors which is still stuck in the 32 bit world and moving to 64 bit. This ensures that you get ...

Advantages: Everything, the perfect home computer! Disadvantages: Lack of Expandibility
...I first saw my brothers Apple iMac 2 G4 800mhz, I felt much the same as the first time I saw my girlfriend. I just wanted to touch it, to run my hands over it and then to see what it could do! No offence intended Fabienne!
No seriously, the Second generation iMac is not only a computer so beautiful that it will not only go down as a design classic in the same league as products such as the egg-chair but will literaly revolutionize computer asthetics, ... ...if you are a hardcore Apple Mac devotee or a PC stalwart, that is design genius of the highest order.
The screen of the new iMac is another area where the computer excells. The screen is ridiculously sharp and bright for the screen of an all-in-one machine, yet this exceptional quality belies the true diamond in the crown of the iMac 2's design. The infinitely repositionable nature of the iMac 2's screen thanks to the stainless steel arm on which ...

Advantages: faster than PC's, less space, good home computer Disadvantages: can't be networked
Apple Mac. A few years ago that little known company who made little known computers (except in the DTP world). Then, they had the idea of imac. and to say that the impact the imac has had on the world is little, is a lie. you can't turn the telly on nowadays without seeing an imac planted on a desk somewhere-be it on watchdog, priory or even TV dramas. also, look at new products that are appearing with their translucent colours, you can even buy ... ...Trivual fact: the bosses at apple told their engineers to come up with something that was easy to use, never crashed, could be easily updated, contained access to knowledge etc. the engineers went away for a few months, put their heads together and came up with this brillient concept. a book. easy to use, access knowledge, and most importantly, never crashed. obviously, apple didn't accept this, and thus, the ibook was born.
(sorry if there are ...

...Perhaps all the staff at Apple should take this quote and use it as a little mantra to be repeated at least a hundred times a day until the meaning of it finally sinks in. Why, you may ask? Need I say any more than the latest two offerings in the iMac range - the 'Blue Dalmatian' and the 'Flower Power' models? The iMac as a 'concept' computer is over three years old now. When it first hit the market it caused quite a buzz among consumers and, indeed, ... ...PATTERNS! Give those guys at Apple a big old pat on the back! OK, to be fair they have managed to tweak the hardware a bit, improving processor speeds a little and including DVD and CD Read/Write drives, but all that aside it's a pretty poor effort when the most innovative thing you've got to show for three years worth of development is STILL how colourful you can make the casing look. And here's the reason why I brought up that quote at the beginning ...

Advantages: easy of use, cost, good software and hardware, looks great Disadvantages: it will make your friends jealous
I think i would be lost without me iMac. It is an iMacDV which i bought back in 1999. I have upgraded it to 192mb of RAM and MacOS 9.1. It is very fast and very stable. The easy way to crash it is looking at dodgy Java based sites with Internet explorer. While using good software I rarely have crashes.
Even though the processor is only 400mhz it is very fast (seti unit in about 10 hours). It is ok for Photoshop and 3d applications. The graphics ... ...This is good with most 3d games playable at good quality. DVDs play beautifully on the slot load DVD drive. You can plug a larger monitor or digital projector in the back if you want a bigger screen.
The sound is above average of built in speakers. The Harman Kardon Odyssey audio system combined with the fact that there is no cooling fan (the processor is much more energy efficient than a pentium or AMD) mean that you can get a good clear sound ...

Reading a Book is not usually my favorite pass time, but when I was brought the Steve Wozniaks biography 'I Woz' I could not put it down.
On first impressions I thought the book would be all about how he invented the 'APPLE-1' noteably the first ever more
This unit follows the clean simple design of the ipod perfectly. Such a simple design yet I wouldn\'t want to be without it now.
The dock is very solidly built with a weighted base so the it stays in place and doesn\'t fall over when the ipod is sitting more
