When I got the Apple iPad as a Birthday present I really wasn't 100% sure yet if I would ever find any use for it. I gave it a go, though and guess what, I fell in love with it. This amazing little thing (sadly) turned into my best friend quickly. From social networking to writing e-mails over downloading exciting games or calling my grandma through Skype, I haven't found anything the iPad doesn't have. Well, to be honest, there is one thing - it doesn't play all videos online which can of course be a pain. I really hope Apple corrects that software mistake and hopefully there will be an App for that soon. Nevertheless, I love this tablet PC and am grateful for getting it as a present. It's the perfect gadget for a twenty-something girl at uni ;).
Edit: Realizing I haven't told you enough about what the iPad actually does, I'll try to do a more descriptive job here.. It is a portable 'mini'-PC based on the Apple philosophy. What I mean by that is, you will need to download Apple products in a so-called 'App Store' on the iPad, thousands of them are free and I have never had to buy an App. Prices for Apps you need to buy are somewhere between 0.99p and 99 Pounds. Apps include games, translators, GPS systems, music download programmes, and there are new things coming to the App market virtually every day.
The tablet is very handy and small and easily fits into any handbag or backpack - but it is recommended to use extra protection like e.g. a screen saver (around 10 pounds) or an extra protection purse. These additions are to be found at the Apple Stores (in store and online) or on virtually any selling page online like e.g. amazon, ebay, gumtree. There are many high quality additions to the iPad so you will feel like you don't have to go to the more expensive Apple products. If you buy an additional keyboard for the Pad you will see it works just like a laptop and if you feel like reading your favourite book, download it as an e-book and use your iPad as a book on a long tube/train ride. With the 3G function, meaning that by paying a monthly rate to have internet on the tablet wherever you go, enables you for example to use it like a GPS system in your car by simply using the Google Maps App that is automatically included in the Pad. Price-wise it is good value for money if you happen to like Apple products for their functions and look. There are other tablets out there and to be honest, it is probably a good idea to check those first to make sure you think spending 600 pounds on this is worth it. Do get it insured through Apple or through your personal bank - walking around with such valuable things in your bag can make you quite vulnerable at times.
Other than that, like said before I am very happy with this product because it does what I ask for from a table PC, it looks stylish and I am very happy with the ever increasing amount of free Apps out there. Have recommended it to my friends and would recommend it to any Apple lover out there.
