introduction

the ipad is a touchscreen 10 inch lightweight apple product that i find has many advantages and disadvantages. many people think that it is like an ipod touch but way bigger, but i disagree. i think its much more to that

advantages

it is a 10 inch LED HD touchscreen, it can do many things such as surf the internet on award winning safari, access over 200,000 apps in HD which is so much more fun than when you are doing it on say an iphone screen. i absolutely love using ibooks on it as the screen is big its almost like reading a real book but way cheeper and you don't have to go to the shop to get it, and because its so light you can take it anywhere! i also like to use bbc iplayer on it because the graphics are stunning compared to many other laptops, its so crisp and clear.

disadvantages

initially i bought it as i thought it would be just like a laptop but amazing for the price of it, but i was wrong! it is far from it. you cant download adobe players which are PDF and flash readers, which apple don't tell you about but i didn't think that it would be much of a problem, i was wrong again because i work a lot and therefore miss some of my favorite shows, which i can then watch through iplayer, five, 4od and itv player, i can only get iplayer because the rest redirect me to download adobe which tells me i cant install it on my device, and this goes with every download thats not on the app store (however there is A LOT on the app store so the rest of my needs are fore-filled). i thought it would have some way of getting photos on through a USB which it does not have, or downloading documents that need work done to them but as you cant download any file from the internet, i cant get Microsoft word or excel or MCNP. so i now have to use my other laptop which is eliminating many points i used to encourage myself to buy it.

internet

as a major advantage i really love the 3G network i have with it, i can surf the internet with speed wherever i am which i think is great. my internet is down at the moment (due to the bad connection i have with talk talk which i strictly recommend you do not consider) but i am writing this review now on my ipad thanks to 3G! when on wi-fi the internet speeds are brilliant so it has come through for me.

conclusion

the ipad is kind of a rollercoaster, its somehow good and bad at the same time, useful and unuseful. but i still think that for £500 it is so worth what it costs, but if you want a laptop, get a laptop!
