I Received my iPhone 3gs as an upgrade at the start of this year and I really was not looking forward to a phone that does 100-1 things as I am happy with simple phones that you can call or send messages as surely this is the use for a mobile phone.
I was surprised on how stylish the phone is simple yet looks elegant and expensive. The phone is very easy to use I was a little worried at first as it is a touch screen but it is not over sensitive like a lot of phones seem to be. The menu options are clearly laid out on the front screen of the phone with only a little slide to the side of the screen to access further applications to the phone. Then if you press the round button on thee front of the phone you get access to a larger option of menus for everything you could possibly need on the phone. To make a phone call is easy you simply press the green phone button and that gives you access to your recent call history phonebook and voice mail you then choose to dial a number or from a contact and its done.
For messages top right Icon is a picture of a letter click on this to read or create messages and your away. A QWERTY keyboard pops up on screen for you to type the message which is great cause it makes it so much easier for me to use.To add on applications you simply click the application logo and search for what you want there are so many you could keep yourself entertained for ever some games some useful for day to day life. You can move icons about easily by holding down 1 of the images and then just drag them to the place on the screen you want them to be this is also how you delete things you don't want on your phone just press the red cross on the top right of the box.
A major downside for me with this phone is the battery it runs out ever so quick lasting just 6-7 hours if I am lucky and actively using it. This can be a big pain while out working all day and although it charges quicker than a lot of other phones I have for the use of the phone its just silly for it to be ruined by a low running battery. I have found by pressing the on/off switch once it locks the phone in to standAnother negative is how easy they can be scratched. Yes I know you can get cases etc to protect them but oh my even the slightest bump leaves a mark and can make your phone look very old and used and so the only thing to do is get a protective cover but out of the 3 I have tried all mess up my already rubbish reception and so I have to take them out to make calls.
I still think they are over priced to buy on pay as you go at a few hundred but as an upgrade of my contract I was quiet happy with the value I got and how many applications have now changed my life. The children love the game applications but unfortunately as it is so expensive I worry about letting them use it as they are so small.Over all I think it is a fantastic phone the touch screen is great not over sensitive it is easy to use even for a super technical phone and comes in very handy for when out and about and needing access to the internet.
