14th October saw the arrival of Apples 5th Generation iPhone (iPhone 4S) and like many people around the world, I queued up to get my hands on the new device.
So what is so great about a phone that looks almost identical to the previous generation? Personally not a great lot.
Compared to the iPhone 4, I only see a small difference between the two generations. We may need to wait a short time before apps like Infinity Blade 2 become available to download.

The new rear camera has certainly made an improvement to its predecessor. The quality of photos that I have taken on the 4S are more vibrant and sharper. For video, the stabilizer makes shooting video much better. For me I find it difficult to keep my hands steady when making a video but this isn't as much of an issue now.
This is new to Apple devices and therefore should be taken with care. With any new technology there will be issues and Siri is no different. Every bodies voice is different and Siri doesn't really account to that nor does it totally understand what you want when you try to ask a more detailed question. You may also find yourself getting frustrated with Siri when one minute it works fine and then the next it can't understand you (example: I asked Siri to set the timer for 10 minutes, no problems, once the timer had finished, I asked Siri to set the timer for 15 minutes and it didn't understand). However, as I said before it is new technology for Apple and will have some teething issues at the start but hopefully in the next 5 years Siri could become something we rely on in most situations.
The battery is said to be much better than the iPhone 4 offering longer talk time and standby time. To me I only see a small improvement with the length of the battery. Like most smart phones, if you have 3G connected and don't reduce the brightness of the screen like I do, you will most likely recharge the battery everyday.
The iPhone 4S is a good mobile device, however, for Apple to spend 18 months developing a new phone and come up with the 4S is disappointing. If you currently own an iPhone 4 and considering upgrading to the 4S, you may not see much improvement, but if you are an iPhone, 3G, 3Gs or other mobile device user then you may appreciate the full benefits of the 4S.
Now you can use your voice to use your iPhone. Just talk to Siri as you would to a person: “Remind me to call mum w...
