I bought my black 32 gig iphone 4 on the internet, paying 695.90£ including shipping guaranteed.
The packaging is reduced to the essentials and, in addition to the iPhone, contains:
- The headphones;
- The USB cable;
- The plug on the USB cable to recharge the iPhone plugged in power;
- A handbook essential to get started with your phone (you can download the full one directly from Apple's site);
- The "paper clip" to open the door that contains the micro sim.
Before you can use your phone, you have to go to a phone center (Vodafone in my case) and ask them to replace your sim with a MicroSim.
Obviously there will be your telephone number and your credit, while the contacts you need to ask the clerk to move from one tab to another, has been active since the MicroSim (the guy who served me told me that I had to wait half an hour, but I have not had time to exit the store was ready for use.)
The next step is to download iTunes on your computer, creating an Apple account, you will need to download the App, and connect the iphone.
Once synchronized, ready for you to enter the magical world of apple.
Now take a look at what is already installed:
- Messages -> one of the things I like most is that by clicking on a name in history (which you can delete at any time) you can view the entire conversation, the messages sent and received. I did a little 'hard to get used to writing with the qwerty keyboard on the phone and the auto-correction, are now fast enough.
- Calendar -> you can see a time or day for the entire month, to always have an eye on our dates and our deadlines;
- Images -> collection of our photographs. Touching the photo to access different options: send photos by email, MMS, assign contact, use as wallpaper, press. In addition, clicking the play you can create a presentation, giving an entrance effect (wave, cube, from right to left ...) to your photos, adding background music. I have a few photos for now, so I have not made the most of this option;
- Camera -> the iPhone has a camera 5mega pixels, LED flash is activated automatically integrated, front-facing camera, autofocus and a 5x digital zoom. It takes this information to help you understand the high quality of photos taken, far superior to any other phone in my possession (and even some real camera.);
- You tube -> to view the video on you tube site, you can choose between those in the foreground, most viewed or search for one yourself, to save as a favorite;
- Stock Exchange -> application to follow the markets, I opened it just to take my curiosity, but not a branch that I have not explored the use itneressa;
- Maps -> you report your current position and you can create a route to a programmed destination, whether to use a car, public transport or your feet. And 'possible to view the map by satellite (such as Google Earth, for instance) or as a way around the city, enlarging or reducing the zoom by simply touching the screen.
When you insert a contact, you can also store the address.
Just click on it because it opens up the map with the exact location.
- Weather -> initially stored only Milan and Rome, just click on the "i" button to add the places you need it and display the current temperature and weather forecast for the next six days.
- Note -> you can take notes and, by connecting the phone to your computer, sync on I tunes
- Clock -> more than an hour, includes alarm clock, stopwatch and timer;
- Calculator -> scientific or classical;
- Compass;
- Voice Memo -> to use the iPhone like a recorder, an application that has not helped me at the time;
- Settings -> Airplane, Wi fi (wi-fi networks to search in the area. If the name appears next to a lock means that you need the password to use it, otherwise it is a free network), Notifications (when you open an app alerts you if there are updates to download), location (to use a compass and maps), manager (ie the network you are using), Sounds (to set ring tones), brightness, background (you can choose from the images already present or from your photos) General (to activate the bluetooth, display the total duration of calls, automatic correction in SMS, etc.), Mail, Telephone (to use FaceTime mode, activate the pin code or forward calls ), Safari (changing the search engine or the pop-up), Messages, iPod (random execution, set the maximum volume), images (slides for presentation), Notes (change the font), Store (to access the 'Apple account).
- I-tunes store> to look, listen, view a video, a song, ring tone, TV shows, audiobooks, everything! To access them you need to be connected to the internet and here comes the account created when Apple first synchronization, Apple Account, in fact, you can buy and download all the content on iTunes (I will simply dismiss the application in a few lines, as will the app store, because it deserves an opinion on purpose).
- App Store -> in this case must be connected to the Internet and use your private account with Apple to see the thousands of applications, both free and paid, available to improve the functions of your iPhone. Do not assume that only those paid apps are valid, there are also good ones between free (that I love pasta in all its forms, I downloaded the app of barilla, which allows me to access different recipes without having to connect internet). When you connect to the App Store, check out if a number appears over the icon "Update" to know when updates come out for the app installed.
- Mail -> to configure your mail account (I always forget to do it, so I go directly on the free site with Safari);
- Safari -> to surf the web as if you were using the computer, opening multiple pages and multiple sites simultaneously.
- Ipod -> to listen to music or watch a video, you can download from Itunes or transfer from your computer to the iPhone with the USB cable. We can create a playlist, try running random advance to any point of the song.
These are the main settings of your iPhone, all they have and those that lead us into the Apple world.
Of course, the expense is not indifferent before purchasing must think only of one thing (of course I speak for those who will not use the phone to work but only for private use): it can help you get the iPhone or the past ' initial excitement we'll just make calls, send some text messages and take a couple of pictures? For this one just any smartphone with a good camera.
With the iPhone have an app for everything: face book, tom tom, various games, programs to edit photos, recipes to download app, app to download books, we read the newspapers online, check the weather forecast, search a shop nearby, if we need a mechanic he is. In short, we can do just about anything, just have a calling plan that allows us to connect to the Internet or use a wifi network nearby.
During the phone calls I have not had problems with signal loss and the sound is great both indoors and outdoors, in a noisy place. I've never tried the video call, not a thing that interests me, but the resolution of the display is simply fantastic. Viewing videos on iTunes seem to see them on television.
The only flaw I found is the battery life. When I am home (and therefore with a wifi network available) are almost always connected, especially on the App store, I try to download new applications, phone and send messages every two or three days at most I have to recharge the battery, but its I can say that the defense is fast charging.
There I think about a little 'before spending all this money, even in anticipation of the exit of the later models, but now I can say to be completely satisfied and that the object I have in my hands is worth them all.
I upgrade my opinion because yesterday morning I downloaded the software update, I went from version 4.3 to this blessed 5!
If you have not already done so, take some 'time (it takes about twenty minutes to download on itunes and almost as much to upgrade the iphone) and remove the pin from the sim (I have not done and I have lost about five minutes for this, because it has blocked the update and I had to reset some points).
What's new in iPhone OS 5?
First icloud: automatically stores music, photos, documents and sends them wirelessly to other devices and with icloud have already installed the very useful "Find My iPhone" on a map to locate the missing device. I stop here with the description for two reasons: I have yet to exploit it better and you probably will need separate opinion.
Then we have the new reminder function: to create lists of things to do, deadlines and appointments. (I have yet to try out for the shopping list, which, measuring our position, should emit a sound to remember to buy milk!)
Newsstand: we will need to manage the app newspapers or other papers that we downloaded, we can access with a twist to our favorite magazines.
Also new for the photos: you can crop, retouch, remove red eye and save them directly into an album.
A great idea was to limit the notifications to a small strip on the top of the screen, which does not interrupt what we are doing and will disappear after a few seconds.
And now, if we want to beautify our messages with emoticons, we no longer have to download the Emoji app, but check in the general settings and select the appropriate keyboard to have access to dozens of emoticons!
