I got this Ipod Nano for my birthday from my girlfriend. Up until this point i had a Mini which was great but still rather big, especially once the belt clip was on the back of it.
The first thing that you notice when opening the box is how unbelievably small the thing is, and light once you pick it up. The first thing I noticed which annoyed me was that unlike when i got my Ipod Mini, this did not come with an adaptor so that you could charge it from the mains; you have to do it through your laptop/computer. This is fine until you go on holiday... luckily i can still use my old one though.Once you take off the sticky protective cover from the Nano you will notice that the "new" shiney look of it is lost the second that you touch the body, anywhere! The front is jet black so the prints show up instantly, the back is chrome so the same applies! I know it probably sounds a bit "anal" but i just keep having to rub off the hundreds of prints that seem to appear.
Using the Nano is easy! If you have had an Ipod before then you'll notice it is the same setup in the menus and you get the classic scroll wheel on the front.Due to the Nano having a colour screen you also now have the option to fill up any space which isn't being used by your music files with photos. Itunes does this automatically from "My Pictures", it fits hundreds in the smallest of spaces which are left on the Nano! To be honest though i find that having pictures on such a small screen is pretty pointless, although they are on their for me to look at... I am yet to actually get the urge to look at them as you can't see much detail anyway.
Being 2gb you havn't got masses of space but it still holds plenty of the music you really like. Instead of just copying loads of full albums across i just select the songs that i like to listen to; seems much more economical with space. All in all i think it's great for music. You get (in my experience of turning it on and off as and when i need it) about 8 - 10 hours of battery life. TIP: be aware that you should always run the battery down as low as you can before charging it back up. Rechargeable batteries can develop a "memory effect" which after a while means that the part of the battery you never use will just "die", meaning that if you ever do want to use it you can't, you will only have available the active part which you normally use before recharging.
I find the surface of the Nano irritating as it gets so dirty so quickly and I'm always afraid to leave it in my pocket incase i break it; being so small i don't know how much it will take to break it. Overall though; GREAT!
