I had seen adverts on the TV about the ipod nano and when i got one, I Loved it and i was very excited. I paid about £140 for mine and i was actually amazed at how small it really is. The sleek white and silver design looks really cool along with the white earbud style earphones. The ipod nano comes in a small box along with white earbud style earphones, a dock connector, iTunes software, an electronic features guide, a printed quick start guide and four black earphone pads.
--The Ipod Nano--
--Design-- I love the way apple have designed the ipod nano. It is only 1.6 inches in width and 3.5 inches in height. The front is an elegant and sleek white colour and has a metal chrome backing. On the front of the ipod there is a 1.5 inch (diagonal) LCD screen with a LED backlight. It also has a touch-sensitive clickwheel. On the top there is a funky "hold" button and on the bottom there is a dock connector port and a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.
--Durability-- The ipod nano is quite durable but is not really strong. The one thing that will tend to happen to the ipod nano is that it will scratch. If your not careful with it, it will break especially if sat on. To protect my ipod nano, i bought a see through case off apples website but it cost me £25!!! But i'm sure you can buy
them cheaper on ebay or amazon.
--Display-- The ipod nano has a 1.5 inch (diagonal) LCD with a white and blue LED backlight. It also has a 176 x 132 pixel resolution. Even thought the display is small, the photos can look quite good.
--Audio-- As an MP3 player sound is everything and along with the apple's earbud style earphones, your songs will sound brilliant. As nearly all my songs are encoded at 128Kbps, they sound great on my ipod and i still have enough space for alot more. And to make your songs sound even more better, you can customize the EQ settings. The ipod also has some more settings that can be customized including " Sound Check " Which checks all your MP3's and keeps them all at the roughly at the same volume so when you change a track, you don't have to keep turning your volume up and down.
--Navigation-- Using the menus are really simple and straight forward. The main menu can also be customized. Finding songs and creating On-The-Go playlists takes only seconds and couldn't be easier. On the main menu, you can select which catogary you want to go into then it gives you a list of all the places you can go in the sub-category,ect. Making the ipod one of the most easiest to navigate MP3 players on the market.
--Features-- As well as a MP3 player and a photo viewer, the ipod nano has many other features in it which are really useful. The features include : a world clock, Games, a Contacts viewer, a Calender, Notes, a Stopwatch and a screen lock.
The world clock is very good especially when traveling abroad, all you do is set it at the normal time and select where you are and if you fly to another country you can change where you are and the time will update. The world clock also has an alarm in it which is good especially if you need to get up early in the morning! The games are playful and not too hard. They are really fun if you are on the bus and have nothing else to do :). The contacts viewer is where you can store your contacts and well, view them :). The one thing i find a very useful tool on the ipod nano is the calender. It is very easy and simple to use. It comes in really handy when your ipod starts beeping and tells you that you need to buy milk or bread,ect. The stopwatch is good if your an athlete and your doin track work. The screen lock tool is very useful too because it locks all buttons and stops interrupting your listening pleasure.
--Software and Connectivity-- The ipod nano itself is great but the software you get with it also plays a huge part. With the ipod nano you get apple's iTunes which is also a great program and looks good, is easy to navigate and is easy to install. iTunes is a great piece of software which looks good, has a great library sytem, hardly freezes or crashes and buying music of it couldn't be easier. But the main thing is how easy it is to connect your ipod nano to it and start downloading songs onto your ipod. Onec iTunes is installed and running plug one end of the dock connector into the ipod and the other bit into your USB port. iTunes should recognize your ipod and it should tell you to name it,ect. Once that is done you can start loading songs onto your ipod. I put about 200 songs onto my ipod nano and it took about 5-10 minutes which i thought was really fast!!
