I like listening to music on the go and have owned the first generation IPod Nano 2GB in black for over two years and have found it to be a brilliant piece of audio equipment that has taken away the need for a bulky stereo in my flat and lots of CDs in my car. I paid only £60 for my second hand Nano and I consider this to be something of a real steal, however the extras such as a protective jacket, docking station and cable for my car stereo really bumped up the outlay. The main point though is that it really was worth it.
After installing the iTunes software onto my laptop I have been able to import 500 of my all time favourite songs and disco beats on my Nano. The process of uploading all of the songs did take a number of months as the software does take a while to read, copy and then transfer the data to the Nano but it is time worthing spending as once completed I had everything I wanted to listen to at my fingertips. In the same way tunes are selected and volume altered on a regular IPod there is a touch sensitive wheel in the middle and when turning and moving the cursor bar on screen a slight clicking noise is made to help with selections. The 1.5 inch colour screen is bright and clear and I have no problems at all in finding and selecting songs to play. One feature I really like is the ability to create favourite play lists by rating songs.
When I first bought the Nano I could expect somewhere in the region of 20 hours playback but this has steadily deteriorated over time, now after leaving it on charge overnight I can expect in the region of 10-12 hours of continuous playback before the battery completely drains. One minor irritant is that the after the battery drains past half way the playback through my earphones becomes really much quieter.
Other features include games such as music quiz, solitaire, brick and parachute. I have only attempted to play solitaire once but found that the it drained the battery really quickly. If I wanted to play games on the go though I would just take my PSP along.
Music playback is usually brilliant using headphones and the only issue is as I say when the battery starts to drain but for the fact that I can plug it into a docking station and play tracks loudly at home and in the car and all for £60 I'm really pleased. As a person who for a number of years went off listening to music I have really been bitten again by the music bug thanks to my IPod Nano. Thanks Appple.
