The nano is slim and extremely light, altough this is good I find that its very delicate and im always worried that its going to break, i think that if you drop it once you'll never get it working again. However you can buy a range of covers to protect it.
Display ******** 1.5 inch liquid crystal colour display 176 by 132 pixel resolution.
The display is very clear and bright. I would recommend keeping the backlight on when your scrolling through the menu because it can be very hard to see as the screen is just too dark, although this does mean that the battery will run down quicker which can be a disadvantage.
Battery Life ************ Charge Time - 3 hours A full battery provides you with up to 24 hours of music or up to 5 hours with a slideshow and music.
The battery can only be charged by plugging it into the USB of your computer.
This isnt ideal but it will charge with the computer off so at least you dont have to keep your computer off. (And always remember to safely remove it from the USB or you could loose alot of the data and totally mess it up).
If you prefer not to charge it on your computer you can purchase adapters which will plug into the USB of yoir ipod and then into an electrical plug socket. This can be purchased from www.play.com for £17.99.
What comes in the box ------------------------------- All ipod nanoboxes wherever purchased contain the following: - Ipod nano Earphones USB Cable Dock Adapter Quick Start Guide
The quick start guide really was quick all it tells you is how to switch it on and how to charge it so to work out how to use the rest is up to you. They do provide you with 90 days of free telephone support according to the apple website, although I didnt see any number to ring or any information about this in with my ipod. So if your a first time ipod buyer this is going to be extremely difficult to use. I only managed with it because my brother has one and ive had mp3 players before.
Other colours available ------------------------------- Aswell as silver the ipod nano 4gb also comes in pink, black, green, blue and red.
The apple website www.apple.com/uk provides a gallery of all the different colours and different angles of the ipod.
Price ------- The avereage cost for a 4GB nano is £130.00.
At the apple internet store www.apple.com/ukstore it costs £129.00 with optional free laser engraving and free delivery. A bargain especially if purchasing it as a present for someone. As I had mine for Christmas mine has been engraved, it is only small writing clearing marked on the top of the back of the nano. And it does look very nice. It is up to you what you want to write on it, there are two lines available.
Features ------------ The ipod menu displays the following options, music, photos, extras, settings.
Music ******* Contained within this file is all the songs that you have dowloaded to your ipod. They can all be viewed in different catagories to help you select the songs you want to play, these are:
Playlists - This will contain all the individual playlists that you have out together on itunes.
Artists - Displayed in alphabetical order every artists name that you have a song for, once selected this will display all the songs for that artist.
Albums - This displays all the different albums that you have taken songs off to download to you ipod and once selected will show all the songs from that CD.
Songs - An alphabetical list of every song on the ipod.
Genres - This will tell you all the genres of songs that are displayed. For example, Rap, soul, R & B. And again within in them is all the songs in that genre.
Composers - This is basisly the same as artists.
Photos ******** You can view photos on your ipod while listening to music, I wouldnt recommend putting too many photos onto your ipod as this limits the space for songs. I have a couple of photos on mine but I dont think I will be downloading anymore to it as there just to small to see properly anyway, its not really worth it.
Extras ******* As well as having photos and listening to music on an ipod you can also play games (Brick, Music Quiz, Parachute and Solitaire), write notes, stopwatch, calender, contacts and a clock.
Settings ********* These are all just basic settings for the ipod, Date and Time, Language, Volumne limit etc.
i.tunes ---------- There many benefits to an ipod but i.tunes is not one of them, although i.tunes is a very useful and easy way to download songs to your ipod it is also the only way. Which is not very handy and as you can only have one i.tunes it can be abit confusing if you have more than one ipod in the house.
My Opinion --------------- The ipod nano to start with is not easy to use the instructions are minimal and there website also doesnt provide much information however once you get used to it, it can be quite simple.
It has a wide range of features, more than you'd expect for an mp3 player. The sound quality is excellent. The battery can run flat quite quick so if your travelling you should make sure you fully charge it.
I would say that this product is good value you for money because I do feel that it will be a long lastly product and that you wont have much go wrong with it. Other mp3 players ive had were very tempermental.
I would definately recommend this product to potential buyers.

Advantages: Compact, stylish, iTunes is convenient, good balance. Disadvantages: Sometimes break easily; not much storage space if you want to keep ALL your music
