For a while i considered buying an iPod but have been detered by the size, wieght and price of the iPods that were currently out at the time,so for me it was ideal when the iPod shuffle was introduced.
The iPod boasts at being only 0.78 ounces and just 0.33 inches thin,so was ideal for what i was looking for in terms of weight and size. Although 512 Mb is not as much as the shuffles predecessors, for my own use, (ie. traveling to and from work, running, going to the gym) it was enough to hold all my favourite songs.
The part I found daunting was setting my PC with the relevent software, but my worries were unfounded as the instructions were very clear and I found it very easy to set up. Once the software was put onto the PC it was as easy as choosing the music you wanted, and clicking one button to transfer it to your iPod.Easy!
Using the actual iPod shuffle itself is easy. It has two modes, 1 is the playlist mode, where the iPod just plays the music in the order that you put the music in,and 2 is shuffle mode. I liked the shuffle mode as it's sometimes good to have your music in a different order and have it a bit less predictable.
A thing that I found amazing with the shuffle is it's amazing battery life. I was using it for a good few hours every day with the volume up full for a week and had no need to recharge!
The only problem I found with the iPod shuffle is because it clicks into a USB port, I had a bit of hassle moving my desktop so that i could access the port. This is easily rectified as plenty of accessories are available, such as a USB extention lead. For laptop users I imagine this wouldn't be a problem.
Also to charge the iPod, it is done through an USB port also, so I would imagine for people planning to go on long journeys without a PC that this could be a problem.
In conclusion, I find the shuffle a great choice for those like myself, looking for an MP3 player, that is light, small and affordable. All in I think its a great buy!
