I was surprised at how small it was, as I ordered it off the net I had not held one or seen one before. Initial I used to own an iPod mini but unfortunately it's battery life effectively died for good shortly after the warranty. It was a bit of a pain, but I was planning on a new mp3 player for a little while. I had doubts about getting another iPod considering how the last one failed me. It was either a risky iPod nano second generation, or possibly the new Creative Zen equivalent. After seeing the looks of the iPod and the Creative compared i decided to take a risk. Plus the attractive battery life on the iPod, hopefully more reliable, persuaded me. Plus I already had iTunes. So there you go, I picked the reasonably priced Apple player and was not disappointed as I will go on to tell you in this review.

Performance After a bit more use i've now realised just how useful 24hours of battery is. I think it was on low battery for about 2 weeks of usage before it finally gave in. I love it. The ingenious click wheel is excellent as always and the brighter screen just gives it that edge. Ease of use is perfect. I like simple and easy to work and thats exactly what this is. There isn't much I can fault it on really except the fact they don't do a black 2GB one. But that really isn't a big deal to be honest. How can i forget the sound quality. Even with the cheaper headphones you get with the iPod, it sounds good. But upgrade to a more expensive pair and you will be blown away.
Value Well mine cost £100 and that was when it first came out. At the time it was slightly cheaper than most alternatives and I am very pleased with the outcome. At all the players at this level I can say with ease this is the best. I was put off the closest contender, the creative equivalent, due to the tackiness of the design unfortunately.
Software As always the new iTunes is as easy to use as the old. Simple but effective I believe are good words to describe it. Downloading from the computer is easy and doesn't take that long either. Perfect for what I need it for.
Other Hardware and Accessories The other wonderful thing about the iPod nano is all the accessories that can be bought as well. For example, turning your iPod into a radio is brilliant. Plus all the bright customisation and protection you get for your iPod nano is superb.
Overall A great peice of kit. Recommended to anyone and everyone. I love it and I am sure you will too. Hope you enjoyed reading and found this really helpful. Five stars.

Apple is the rival to Sony when it comes to music entertainment. I think that Apple make the most superior mp3. Players. The navigation through the menus are simple and easy and you have the option of searching for your favourite music by searching through the album track or artist.
The ipod is slim and light and you sometimes forget it’s in your pocket. The 2nd generation of ipod is a marked improvement from the first ever ipod that to say the ... ...updates for free from the apple website. Their are very few faults that occur with the ipod however to reset your ipod without loosing music you can press down the enter/select button and the play button held down at the same time the screen will go blank and the apple logo will come up this can be done when you ipod crashes if this fails than a master reset from itunes can be used but this will wipe your ipod.

...popped down to my local Apple shop to see what the Ipod was like and its features and battey like etc and I was so happy with what you get for your money...I find this Ipod Nano easy to use and keep tidy...I was glad that I have the mp4 which has got me to know how to use the Ipod Nano very quick the only difference once I have to use Itunes which is excellent as you have a wide range of stuff you can purchase as well as manage your Ipod. Style - ... ...a finger...I also like that apple have put a slide button on the top which allows you to lock your ipod so you can save your battery...I am happy with the Ipod since day 1 of getting it as it everything I ever wanted and I would recmmend to everyone after an MP3 to purchase one of these. Performance - I think the Ipod has the best battery life out of all mp3 players I have had I fully charged the Ipod when I got it and I have been using for 3 weeks ...

On iTunes you can also create specific play lists that you want to listen to while catching the tube, bus to work or school. ...to communicate my pleasure with Apple once the Ipod stopped functioning as it should...
Once I received the Ipod, I immediately filled it to the gunnels with songs, as one does, and used it a couple of times very successfully. Upon loading up a couple of pod casts into it, things when a bit odd... Songs would play, according to the timer, but very slowly, i.e. each second on the timer taking 2 or 3 seconds of real time, and without any sound. Upon ... ...it could be returned to Apple for repair. I contacted Apple and was sent a package in which to send it back in within a day. I duly returned the item and having followed the progress online, a new unit was sent to me 2 days later.
This is by far the best customer service I have had for any faulty piece of equipment, and am seriously considering paying £25 to extend it for another year.
In conclusion, I would say that it is a very handy and nifty ...

The Scientist's iPod!
When one thinks of iPod's one imagines cool, hip teenagers rhythmically rocking their head back and forth as they walk down the supermarket isles. When one thinks of the convenient iPod Nanos (and the second generation - smaller - ones especially) one also thinks of young adults jogging in the morning. What one does not usually think of is science geeks (like yours truly) sitting in the tube and suddenly bolting upright exclaiming ... ...haven't I suggest you try it just to see the look on people's faces (keep in mind that it is marginally embarrassing though).
The reason for this is Podcasts (downloaded through iTunes, which is free and worth having even if you don't have an iPod)! Especially those of the Nature, Lancet and Science journals, as well the New Scientist magazine!! Who in the world has enough time to read all the non-specific journals!? I certainly don't! The podcasts ...
