Well, I obtained my iPod Nano two years ago, and as far as I can say, it has been extremely good.
To point out, I had not owned any apple products at all before my Nano. And I have to say, Nano is the best of the best in portable players.
Nano has flash memory instead of a HDD, so it offers no lag, extremely small weight and amazing battery life. Plus the Nano itself is just great to handle.
I like the simplicity of the buttons. To point out, the hold button on top of the player is one of the best design elements in the world, because it makes you grip the Nano more and so you dont have to worry about dropping it. I like the scrollwheel. It might be some getting use to, but when you get used to it, then its very hard to use anything else. Well, the scrollwheel has some frustrating anomalies sometimes, but they come up very rarely and are fun actually. For instance, sometimes, when you might leave your finger on the scrollwheel and you listen to a song, the volume might start to shift very rapidly. The menu is well thought out and logical. The screen is clear and only gets dimmed when you let direct sunlight shine to it.
And then come the negatives. Acctually, there are not many of those. It has acted on me only twice during the two year period. The first time, it would not want to shut down nor sync with iTunes. But as I later thought of it, I had changed my system date and time from BIOS( I had a busted clock battery) So do not do that!! the second time it told me to hook it up to iTunes for restoring. But it was fine after I had toggled with the hold button. As most iPods, the Nano has a plexi glass plastic cover, which gets scratched rather easily. But if you dont care about the bling looks of the Nano, then it will not matter.
In conclusion, I listen music with Philips SHP 2000headphones which has 0,5 W of output power, I can get up to 8 hours of batterylife, which is amazing.
iPod Nano second gen is the best small player by performance and looks. Thats why it is so hard to get one of them now days...
