As a music lover, I could safely say my nano is my desert island must have. Personally, my favourite aspects of the Nano are the easy to use menu layouts and different display options and the included games are a nice touch if you're waiting for a bus etc and you want something more than just music to pass the time. I love the genre menu as you can choose the style that suits the mood but my most used part is the 'shuffle' function. I also love the fact that you can add playlists to your nano as i've had other mp3s in the past that don't allow this.
But on the negative side, I got my iPod for christmas and the rubber on both ear phones/plugs has perished, in other words, they've broken. I know I've used it ALOT but I've taken good care of it and really wouldn't expect them to have broken so soon. Also with their white look, the rubber gets marked and can look worn out quite quickly.
I also find that my nano's 'off' switch is very tempermental, and sometimes plays up. Whether this is common or not I couldn't say.
I would say, if you really love your music, 4gb just isn't enough. My Nano is full already and I'm dieing to add more so I'd suggest looking at the 8gb and working out if it's worth it.
But to conclude, I think it's great value for money and, for me, the plus sides far outweigh the mostly aesthetic negatives.
