The iPod. The defining, most revolutionary piece of affordable equipment for the "noughties generation." It is undoubtedly acclaimed by all, but is it worth the hype?

You recieve it in a streamlined box, and recieve an iTunes installation CD, your iPod, a computer charger, a set of headphones (with 2 ear muff things) and some manuals. It's simple enough to set up, just charge, then install the CD, then connect the iPod using the charger cable and drag your music files. The 4GB capacity will hold roughly 1000 songs depending on the size of your mp3 files or the amount of photos you also add on.

On your iPod you have many features, including a great game of Solitare, an alarm, a world clock, a photo gallery, a screen lock (never needed to use this), multi language settings and finally a Music quiz. If you ever get tired of just listening to your music these help to stray the boredom away.

The most remarkable thing that struck me with my iPod is not the click wheel, the sound clarity or even just the materialistic look. It's iTunes. It allows the user remarkable music management for their device. Yes, I'm sure there are better musical applications for the computer, say Winamp. But iTunes allows full compatablity between computer and mp3 player for even the lamest of PC users.

I would recommend buying a wall charger though for your iPod, I got mine out of Dixons and have had no problems with it since, as it does get a little tedious with the battery power.

Also no person should ever have a problem with the loudness that the earphones are capable of. I remember my friend saying he got annoyed because he couldnt hear his iPod at a party... WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO!?

Overall it is a device which I have relitively no problems with and it has fufilled my love for music in my ear and on the go. And I am one of those people that couldnt live without it :)
