For music playback on the move, the Ipod is the pinnacle when it comes to MP3 players, its sleek design, easy to use interface, bright and simple menu screens. All these features and touches and you might forget the great audio playback!

The scroll-wheel is always the center of an Ipod, since its the only way you can use it. If you have never used one before it is very intuitive and will take you a matter of minutes to get used to using it. Afterwards you will wonder why all MP3 players aren't like this.

The screen size is very big considering the small size of the whole product. After being used to a Second Generation Nano I welcomed the almost doubling of the screen since that Ipod. The screen is very vibrant and colourful and really show off the Album art, Films, Games and pictures that you can store here. If you tilt the Ipod on its side, the screen follows, enabling you to scroll through your Albums in widescreen. This is a nice function but feels little more than a gimmick.

A few small problems I have however is the fact that you can't move a song to an existing playlist on the Ipod. It has to be done through itunes. It has happened a few times where I'd heard a song whilst I was out, thought, I'd like that with these songs, only to forget when I get back. Also the option to shake the Ipod to go to a random song on the Ipod when it is unlocked. This wouldn't be as annoying if it kept to the same playlist but it simply doesn't. Also the ear buds that come with them are OK for an hour or two but after a while they can ache your ears so I would suggest investing in a pair that are more comfortable. No product is perfect and these things are the only gripe I have with the item since I received it as a gift.

This brings me onto the free engraving option on all new Ipod's. This feature that Apple offers adds a really nice touch to the item as it is an ideal gift for anyone. You can personalise a message to go onto the back of the Ipod upon purchase. However this pretty much ruins any chance of selling it second hand for a decent price after you have finished using or replaced it.

The 8GB if memory that comes can hold a lot of, music, games, podcasts and you can even use it as a memory stick for other files. I am yet to fill mine but I have a relatively small music collection, I would suggest getting the 16GB if you have an expansive collection of music.

The battery life is good, and I'm hoping that the battery on this Ipod doesn't go the same way as my old one, barely being able to hold a charge for an hour. I would suggest that if your going on a long journey, the games might be quite appealing but they drain the battery so horribly that I'd just invest in a new album instead.

I would recommend this product to anyone who's looking for an MP3 player. There's a reason that Ipod's are regarded as the best at what they do. The relatively cheap price at just over £100 and the free engraving when bought from the apple store make this an amazing gift or a great gadget to add to your collection.
Summary: Great product, your paying for quality with an Ipod.
