You will never get the sound quality from and MP3 player that you would from a standard stereo and the internal amp does limit the volume and sound quality even when hooked up to an external hifi or upgraded headphones. This considered the sound is warm an more than accepable for a device of this type.
Ease of use
As with all Ipods this can be used simply and easily by users of any level. The menus are simple to navigate and clear. In my experience the Nano's functionality is second to none.
Getting data onto the Nano is resonably straight forward but you do need to download itunes from apple.com/uk before you can start putting songs onto the device. PC's without USB 2.0 (such as mine)will take much longer for songs to be transfered.
Features
On top of being able to store songs you can also store videos, photos and podcasts.
In terms of settings you can view the time, play games and also change the sound levels (EQ). Changing the EQ is managed by preset areas such as "accoustic" and "bass reducer", one issue is that these can not be manually modified.
Look and design
In black this device looks better than anything else on the market. ou will need to buy a iPod glove or cover to ensure the device does not get too scratched.
Apple is famous for its design and does not miss out with this Nano, it is simple but i dont believe it could look better!
Value for money
I paid around £120 for my iPod, although more expensive than the similar offerings by sony the iPod is worth the money pay.
Equipment included
The Nano comes with a USB cable, headphones and a universal dock adaptor. THERE IS NO PLUG INCLUDED - YOU CHARGE THROUGH THE LAPTOP. It is around £20 to buy an adaptor to charge the device through the mains.
Overall:
I am really happy with my iPod and would recommmend it to anybody. The 8 GB is enough for around 1500 songs. The sound is good. One word of warning the headphones are fragiles. I have had two pairs as they ware our quickly. At £25 for a set it may be worth buying some aftermarket replacements if they do ware out.
