I have had my 1GB Ipod Shuffle for about nine months. I have never had any problems with it, and I would recommend it. Pros: + Size - same size as most USB pen drives with the advantage of playing mp3s. + ITunes compatibility - I have only used it with ITunes, but it works very well - it autmatically installed when I put it in the USB port. + Sound Quality - one you attach some decent headphones the sound is very good. + Rugged - solid plastic construction (without the screen issues of the Nano) Niggles: - Earphones - provided earphones poor. Neither the sound quality nor the comfort is good. I changed mine for a Sony set. - Fiddly controls - The 'On' slider switch goes from Off to Random Play to Sequential Play. It is difficult to set it to Random Play without looking carefully at the switch. - Compatibility issues - as with many mp3 players, it is only compatible with music downloaded from certain providers (in this case ITunes), along with ripped CDs. It won't play songs with other DRM.
I find most of the headphones that come with anything are really uncomfortable and never fit in my ears so a good set of your own really does add to the sound quality. A good start here and a warm welcome to ciao. Fionaxx
