If you have a rather large library of music, photos and videos on iTunes say, this is the ideal iPod for you. At an enormous 160 GB capacity, the iPod Classic can hold up to 40,000 songs, 200 hours of video or 25,000 photos. Even combining these, the amount you can fit on here is fantastic. It's very easy to use just like the classic iPod but has a much improved colour screen, which makes watching videos enjoyable.

One slightly new feature that has been introduced onto the iPod Classic is Genius mode. This enables you to click the Genius button whilst a song is playing and it will automatically pick out a small playlist of songs from that genre. I was apprehensive over whether it would actually work at first, but it works brilliantly! If I'm listening to a song I like, I can just use Genius and it always comes up with a few other good tunes I'm in the mood for. This is best when you have a library full of thousands of songs as it may pick ones out that you even forgot about!

The box it comes in contains the iPod itself, well wrapped and secured as well as earphones and a USB cable for charging with the dock adapter. The iPod should be charged once you get it out, but you can top it up by placing the USB into a computer or even a keyboard if your computer has this and is powerful enough (Apple keyboards tend to have these ports). The iPod is really easy to use - pretty much the same as the old ones. You use the touch sensitive wheel to scroll across the menus by circling it either clockwise or anti-clockwise. You can use the menu button to go to the menu or go back. The select button is in the centre of the 'wheel' and the play/pause and forward/backwards buttons are for music control mainly. It's very easy to use and quite a pleasure too.

The earphones that come with the iPod aren't exactly great - the official and standard Apple ones. I'd recommend buying another pair or if you really want to enjoy your music, then go for a pair of headphones - Bose are the best, but Sennheiser are also good along with Panasonic, Sony and Denon.

The menus are easy to navigate and you will soon get very used to the iPod. You can lock it too so if you accidentally press any buttons whilst it's in your pocket, your music will not be affected. Along with music, you can watch great quality videos on this iPod. I wouldn't say the quality is as great as the iPod Touch, simply because the screen is a fair bit smaller - but the sharpness is definitely there. It's great for cartoons especially as the colours are shown off on the very vivid screen, however it's good for all videos.

This iPod is capable of playing iPod Games downloaded from the iTunes store. These aren't the same as Apps for the iPod Touch and iPhone unfortunately. However, they are still pretty good and adds a lot more fun to your iPod so I'd recommend getting a few good games! They are easy to play and usually quite simple. The album artwork for all your music is shown whilst you are listening to tunes - the colour screen is a lot better than the original iPod.

You may think at 160 GB that this iPod is one big brick, but it's not with dimensions of 50 x 20.3 x 10 cm. It weighs just 141g too so it won't weigh down your pockets. It's not the smallest iPod by any means but is still ideal for those wanting to carry all their music with them. The iPod itself is available in silver or black. I have the black one, which is like a matte and looks very nice, but the silver one looks good too. The corners are rounded and the design is just perfect - all symmetrical and looking in order. It feels very nice to hold and is cold to touch in cold air and very hot if you expose it to heat due to the aluminium case. You should never put the iPod in direct sunlight however as this could ruin it.

If you're looking online, you can find this iPod for around £172, which isn't bad at all considering it's capacity and capabilities. With the 8 GB iPod Touch at around £136 on Amazon.co.uk currently, you can clearly see that you are paying for the capacity. However, if you have a lot of music it's well-worth it. If you're looking for a much more capable and enjoyable device to keep less music/videos on, I'd go for the iPod Touch as I prefer that.

Thanks for reading!
