When I first recieved this iPod, I was very excited. I purchased it as an upgrade to the 2nd generation model, and my first thought was how great the larger screen was for displaying photos and videos. I also loved the colour: mine is orange, although there is a range of 9 different colours including blue and yellow.
Other than the fact that it can hold my entire music collection and a HELL of a lot more- the 16gb memory model holds around 3,500-4,000 songs- what attracted me to this iPod originally was the video recorder. It is a great feature, and the video quality is good considering capture is not it's main function. However I have had a few slight technical difficulties with the device, namely one or two of my videos had the sound cut out. This could just be my iPod, however. The sound quality is, as you would expect, fantastic! There are definitely no worries here. Enough said.
As well as the useful video recorder, this model of the iPod Nano incorporates so many useful features I barely know where to begin! A pedometer, Genius (which allows you to create playlists based on the genre of your chosen song), 3 games and FM Radio which you can rewind (great for re-listening to your favourite songs!). These are all great novelties and do come in useful.Obviously, iTunes, the software compatible with iPods, is a fantastic way to store and organise your digital music library. It's fairly quick and easy to add CD's, and also to make playlists which you can then burn to a disc. The iTunes store allows you to buy massive amounts of singles, albums, videos, films, games and podcasts, at competitive prices.
The design is great, and it is a big improvment on the earlier Nano models, with it's sleek shape, great screen and choice of colours. The display is great, it is easily customisable and very VERY easy to use once you get used to the scroller! The battery life is pretty good, and it normally will last me at least a week of my daily commute (around an hour) if I don't play games or watch videos.
The only downsides I see are: the screen is quite easily scratched (easily solved with an iPod case (not included) however), the screen isn't big enough to properly enjoy the films or tv shows you can download (however if this is an issue, there are larger screened iPods available) and the scroller can very occasionally freeze up. I have had to reset my iPod once in the 6 month period I have owned it (because it was incompatible with my speakers), which isn't too bad at all!In my opinion, this iPod is very good value for money and I think it will last me a good long time. Overall, if you want a brilliant way to listen to music on the go with no hassle, this is for you!
