The iPod Nano second generation is a man's best friend, for listening to music and podcasts anyway.
The slimmer version of Apples original creation comes with various new features not evident in the first generation version, all of which are improvements. Firstly, a bright and great looking colour screen, which appears small but is big enough to house all the information regarding the audio you are listening to on screen including the Songs name, album and artist as well as how long the song is.
The 4GB can hold a colossal 1000 Songs which should quench your thirst for music. However, do remember that images and podcasts use up more memory and so you may not be able to reach that amount if you have images and / or podcasts.
Also, this version has an astounding 24 hour battery life, though i found that after listening to my iPod for a couple of hours a day for 8 months, i can barely get an hour in. This is one of the very few faults i found with my Nano.
Also, listening to the same songs is a little dull and so you get a few games which are great to play, including the infamous Brick, Solitaire and The Music Quiz which tests your knowledge of your own song as you guess what song is playing. A lot more entertaining than it seems. The only fault is that bar the iPod Shuffle, the iPod Nano 2nd generation is the only iPod that you cannot purchase games for through the iTunes store, which is our next stop in the review.
As anyone will know, Apples iTunes and iPod work seamlessly together like an old married couple and it is amazingly easy to operate even if you are a technophobe. Simply hook up your iPod to your computer using the enclosed USB connector and on iTunes, it shows you that your iPod has been detected and then it is a case of clicking on File --> Import --> File and then repeating this to add all of your songs to iTunes (You only have to do this once to have the song in iTunes forever) and then simply sync your iPod from the menu.
Overall, this 2nd generation iPod deserves respect as the leading portable music player in the industry and at under £100, it's a bargain for anyone looking for an amazing player at an amazing cost.
PS : I have given the IPod an average in Video Quality as the games and album art are fantastic and transitions are flawless but you cannot have actual videos on the iPod.
