We brought this for our son about 3 months ago, and I've now stolen it from him and use it everyday!

I used to have a 3rd Generation (full size) iPod, but got fed up with the lack of battery life and the way it got scratched so early, so when we decided to buy a replacement (with the excuse of it being for our son) we were one of the first people to order the new Shuffle from the Apple Store online.

What can I say? Impressed? Am I ever!
It is truely, truely TINY!

It is only 1.62 inches long and about half an ounce, and I keep thinking that I've lost it as you can't tell when it's still clipped to you! The clip is good high quality metal like the rest of the case so it's not managed to come loose yet.

Nothing prepared me for the size of the thing and the way it looks. I guess we should have expected it from Apple, but the design is superb. The buttons not only look great, but manage to control the unit easily and are very very intuative.

It can play up to 12 continuous hours. It has a hold feature along with a shuffle and a loop feature so you don't know which of your songs coming up next. It can hold 240 songs in its 1GB memory, which although it's huge is more than enough for a commute to work or while out training (London Marathon 2008 here I come! http://www.justgiving.com/Marathon2008)

Music is transferred from your PC via the included charging/link cable and cradle and it's all transferred before you know it! The sound quality depends on the quality of the song, so I'd recommend checking your music on iTunes before transferring it as there's not adjustments available on the Shuffle itself. Apart from that there's very little bad to be said for it...

It's got no screen, but hey, when it's in your pocket who actually needs a screen? The only think I would say is that although the battery life is SUPERB, it does take a while to recharge through the PC and if you misplace the cradle as we have a couple of times) there's no way you can recharge it without it...

Apart from that... recommended? For the commute to work, out on a run, cycling, general user? HELL YES!
