When I upgraded my mobile phone, with the upgrade I also got 2 free tickets to see pirates of the caribean (sorry can never spell that word!) and a free Ipod Shuffle. I thought this was great, I was getting the new phone I wanted with freebies, it was even better because I needed a new Ipod as my previous ones were forever breaking, but to tell the truth I didn't have much hope for the Ipod Shuffle either.
At 1.62 inches long and weighing half an ounce this tiny ipod is the worlds smallest music player! Although it is so tiny it holds 1GB, which is about 240 songs, which is more than 120 that the old ipod shuffle could hold. The amount of songs that it can exactly hold depends on the size of the song you are uploading to it. If you are uploading bigger files then you will fit less on and vice versa.
It comes with ear phones, an instruction booklet and an ipod shuffle deck to plug into your computer to load songs onto it. But there is a big problem with this, Apple are still using the complicated and rubbish i-tunes and you are still unable to really use anything else to load the music onto the ipod. When you plug your ipod into the computer I-tunes likes to do it's own thing, sometimes deleting all your music from your ipod without you asking it to do so. It is also hard to load songs onto itunes or to find them and it will not do this automatically for you. I would love it to be compatible with Windows Media Player, as this is a music player which truley works the way you want (excluding version 11!).
Another down point about the ipod shuffle is that you can't see what songs you are listening to or go through and choose one. The only options available are next song, previous song, play, pause and volume up and down. You can choose for the songs to be shuffled or to play on a continuous loop. There is also a power button and a hold button.
It is great to carry round, it can fit into anything and doesn't way you down, and also has skip free playback, it is perfect for going to the gym, running or just walking round, especially as it has a clip to attach to yourself and the earphones are quite long so can stretch fairly far.
The ipod shuffles comes in a variety of colours, including silver, blue, purple, pink, green and red.
The ipod has a battery life of 12 hours and it is easy to recharge, you plug it into the ipod dock and connect the usb end to your computer, it usually takes about an hour to four hours to fully recharge. The computer must be on when it is charging though which can sometimes be annoying.
I have always found ipods and ipod nanos have broken but I have had no problems with this one so far. Ipods and Ipod Nanos have never lasted longer than a month or so and I've experienced a variety of endless problems with them. My boyfriend owned the previous Ipod Shuffle and never had one problem with that either, so I think the best made Ipods are the shuffles.
I think this ipod shuffle is good value for money at £40-£50 depending where brought from. Amazon.com sell it for just over £40 but with the new Shuffle due to come out this price will probably drop quite significantely.
This ipod is slick and stylish and is great for on the go. I would recommend it but apple need to do something about only having to use itunes and it would be perfect.

Advantages: Very strong and portable. Extremely good value for money. Disadvantages: Some may prefer a larger capacity. Other than that, no disadvantages at all.
