I love my ipod shuffle. I do have an ipod nano as well, but I find that i'm using the shuffle more and more over the nano. Firstly I find that the size and design of the shuffle (clip feature) is far more useful than the nano, it means you don't have to worry about having a pocket to put it in and is particularly useful for situations like the gym. You also don't have to worry about the screen getting scratched as obviously there isn't one!
The battery life is great lasting a good 10 hours before it needs recharging. I paid £22 for mine off bigpockets when they were selling all the old models off cheaper which is no doubt an absolute bargain. I also feel that the sound quality is as good as all the other Ipod types. The choice of colours is also good so you can pick one to suit your style.
The thing with the shuffle is you obviously don't know what song is going to come next, so I make sure that I only put my favourite songs on it in groups so i'm never sitting there clicking looking for a song I like. This is mad easier by Itunes, so I can just create my playlists and load them in as I want.
This obviously doesn't have as many features as the nano but they are both designed for very different situations so you need to know what you want it for before you buy.
Main MP3 player: Ipod classic/ Ipod nano
Gym/travel MP3 player: Ipod shuffle.
