The appleiPod touch is great, but it has many flaws that users need to be aware of. One main reason to buy this is the ability to have a functional web tablet with a relatively good keyboard. But, using it will drain your battery VERY quickly, 2 solid hours of surfing takes my battery from full to zero. Also, if you are the type of person who listens to single tracks and has a shuffle button fetish, the fact you need to open up the interface and press it will drain your battery very quickly. This isn't a problem for me because I will choos an album and listen to it in it's entirety. With the screen switched off you can get roughly 20 hours of music from the iPod touch before needing another charge, which is very good. The touch interface is half gimmick, half functionality. At first, it's fun to play around with but really gets to be second nature after a week or so. It's faster to use and get used to than previous iPods, but uses much more of your limited battery life. As for the size of it, it's really very slim and compact considering what's in it. This is possible because of the use of Flash memory instead of the Hard Drive, which means you won't get as much battery drained from using the fast forward feature than you would in HD-based iPods, which is a huge plus for those that are too impatient with songs. A major negative concerning the iPod are the earphones that come with it. They are awful. Although very comfortable they sound horrible and break easily and if you decide to purchase an iPod you should also buy some Sennheiser or Bose or Skullcandy earbuds/Headphones to go along with it. Another negative is the lack of custom EQ's in the settings, which is a shame because it's not hard to put one in.
Despite it's flaws it's the right player for me and I recommend it over similar players like the Zune or the other models of iPods. It's not as if you're ever going to need to carry more than 16GB of mp3 information with you at all times, and if you do, you would know more about the players than I.
