I've been wanting a new MP3 player now for quite sometime although wasn't sure what make I should get. I looked into the ipod touch quite a bit and decided I wanted to start saving up for it. My main reason for it was obviously for music, but also it could connect to WIFI hotspots and would keep me in touch with friends and family if I was away from home - as I don't use a mobile. I was also intrigued by HD video recorder on it as I wanted something to record some of my daughters 'firsts' on.
Well I did get a surprise as this was a gift from my lovely fiance that I was supposed to open on my birthday but as he's so lovely he let me have it early so I could get some video's of Evangeline opening her first Christmas presents.
The apps are relatively easy to use and easy to download - although I did get annoyed with having to type in a password every few moments when I wanted something new. The apps range in prices, and there is a huge selection of free ones to download and use onto the ipod. It doesn't take long to set up. I've already got a selection of games to play that I can keep going back to. You can also set up something called push buttons - I think! Which keep you up to date with your apps - if there is a new song on Rock Band that you've got, or if your pudding has finished cooking. There are also apps for fitness, like a pedometer that counts your steps and so on and so fourth.
For me this is something I will use each day for games, listening to music whilst walking or keeping up to date and in touch with everyone and everything. I'm really happy with it's shape and style - it's very sleek and fits nicely into my bag. It means I've always got something on me to take a few quick photo's on the off chance Evangeline does something. New Years Day I was able to get a lovely video of her giggling away and I've not been able to get anything like that before. I also like the skype and facetime ability it has meaning I can contact other family members with the software - another great way of staying in contact with people.
It's worth getting some LCD protecters as it smudges easily with it's touchscreen function, and I also had a leather case for further protection as I am very clumsy. The biggest downside to this is the lousey camera, it has no flash and something like 2 Megapixel which isn't great for a fourth generation piece of technology but it works for me and when the light is right takes some great photos.
The iPod touch comes in 8GB, 32GB and 64GB and ranges in prices above £200. It's available online and makes a great gift.
