In my opinion the new iPod Touch hasn't changed hugely from the version first introduced in 2007; however it has everything taken from the third generation... but better. The iPod is better looking, the processor a lot faster, the body slimmer and they've incorporated new features such as a HD camera and the ability to make FaceTime video calls.

The design does not differ much from its third generation counterpart however there are quite a few small changes. The chrome backing now fits slightly flatter making it less likely to wobble about when in your hand or placed down. This does also mean you cannot re-use the case from you old iTouch. Apple have also added a tiny microphone. The biggest changed for me though is the camera, placed in the upper left corner. It is designed for video recording however can capture some nice still images. It also isn't covered up by your hand when you hold the iPod in a way you naturally would. The volume control buttons have not changed much and are still located in the left edge of the iPod. The big difference in they they're divided into two separate buttons. The sleep button has also been moved to the left side of the iPod, and I've found this strange to adjust to. It doesn't feel right yet. The rest of the iPod is just as I expected. There's been a tiny measurement adjustment from 2.4 inches in width to 2.3 inches and from 4.3 inches in height to 4.4 inches. It also still has the normal home button located below the touch screen.

Many features from the new iPhone 4 have been passed over to this iPod. It has the same A4 processor, the exact same Retina Display, and has an amazing 960x640 pixel resolution at 326 pixels per inch. Despite this you still cannot receive GPS signals or make phone calls on the iPod.
The front facing camera is a big new feature for me. It's perfect for taking photos of yourself and links up perfectly with the iPod's video calling ability. This said, it's VGA resolution can't compete with the HD camera placed on the back.
My favourite feature is definitely the new video and photo capabilities. The camera situated in the back offers full impressive HD video recording up to 720p at 30 frames per second. This is backed up with QuickTime, which offers quick and easy editing of the video directly from your device. You can even send these videos directly from you iPod using e-mail. You can even upload them directly to Youtube!
All in all I love the new features on this iPod touch. There's not much that it can't do!

This was first introduced my Apple on the iPhone. It allows you to send or receive video calls as long as you have a WI-FI connection. It's not just limited to iPod to iPod; you can make a video called using FaceTime from iPod to a mobile phone device.
During the call, the front-facing camera is called into action. It lets you see and hear yourself and your partner. You can even switch between the front-facing camera and the camera on the back! On top of this, you can multi task during a call by simply pressing the home button.

This disables the video feed however you can continue chatting.

The iPod has turned into an app based device, now being used largely for the internet and gaming experience. However we cannot forget what iPods were actually made to do; play music! The iPod touch 4G offers just about everything music and video related that you could possibly need! It's music and video playback capabilities are truly amazing, and using Apple's free service 'iTunes' you can sync all your music, music videos, movies, TV shows, videos and more from your computer.
You could also use some video services, such as YouTube or Netflix to stream content by way of apps or the Safari Web browser that you will automatically find on your iPod.

Gaming on the new iPod touch is now more amazing than ever, because of the additional 3-axis gyro sensor, better performance provided by the new processor and improved display. There is a massive amount of games available from the app store, most costing just 59p and a lot even coming free! There are a huge amount of addictive games such a angry birds, ninjump and doodle jump. I've also started seeing games such as Mirror's Edge, which I downloaded for myself which is of amazing quality! I downloaded it on my iTouch 3G and 4G and the difference is massive. The 4G offers such an amazing gaming experience.
Game Centre is another feature introduced on the iTouch 4G. It comes pre-installed and asks as a world-wide leaderboard which logs your progress and achievements in a lot of your apps. It also gives the rankings of your friends so you can aim to beat each other. It also lets you play against other people. I mean, who isn't bored of playing against a computer? I sure am.

In the spec for the new iTouch Apple say the battery life is 40 hours of audio playback or 7 hours of video. This is quite a large increase over the iTouch 3G which was estimated at 30 hours and 6 hours respectively. If I'm just listening to music or leaving it doing nothing, I find that my new iTouch will last me about 2 and a half days. That's about 60 hours! However when using the iPod's gaming or social abilities I find that the battery life halfs. The battery life can also be extended by turning off WI-FI and Bluetooth or lowering the brightness.
Bluetooth range is about 30 feet and the sound quality is pretty good. I would definitely recommend listening to music through headphones or speakers though. Video quality is also amazing. Videos, films and TV shows alike are played so smoothly and the picture is crisp.

I personally love this iPod, it is probably my second favourite electronic gadget of all times, behind my new desktop (might do a review on this next). I don't see any portable media players coming anywhere near to this in a long time in terms of ability and quality. It combines so many different things such as and not limited to; an internet browsers, instant messenger, social networker, music players, radio, camera and video recorder! I love the iPod Touch 4G 32GB.
