I got one of these for Christmas 2007, replacing a 30gb 5th Gen Video. First Impressions were good, it was a bit bigger than I had imagined but certainly a lot thinner. The screen is nice and big, bright, and very clear.

I've used it quite a lot since Christmas, the battery life is fantastic, the songs change almost instantly, and I think it's frozen once. The internet browser is good, lacks a couple of features but could be fixed in firmware updates. The WiFi signal is always good, and easy to set up. The YouTube application works well, the categories are displayed at the bottom of the screen (Featured, Most Viewed, Bookmarks, Search, More), and when you play a video they are played in wide screen.

The apps such as Calendar, Contacts, Clock (Includes world time, Alarm, Stopwatch and Count-down timer) and calculator are all handy and do the job they indented to do very well.

At the bottom of the screen there are 4 buttons, Music, Videos, Photos and iTunes. When you press music you are taken to your music, and you can select from Playlists, Artists, Albums etc as usual. And if you flip the iPod on it's side, it quickly and smoothly changes to the cover flow, which is also nice and smooth and is easy to use. When you tap on an album, the cover flips over to give a list of songs, very simple and easy to use. Pressing Videos takes you to the list of videos you have stored on your iPod, and tapping on one plays it, in the same format as a youtube video, nice and simple. The video quality is fantastic, also the big screen means you can watch it without having to hold it 6 inches from your face. Tapping on Photos takes you to your photos, giving you a choice of folders. And when viewing a picture you can hold the ipod in any direction you want, and the picture stays the right way up. The picture slide show is good too, some nice effects. Finally, tapping on iTunes will take you to the iTunes store, where as long as you are connected to WiFi, you can purchase Music.

You can switch the iPod on by either pressing the button at the top or the round button below the screen, you will then be presented by a screen showing the date and time, a background of your choice, and you have to slide the arrow across to unlock it.

The rear of the iPod is silver like previous iPods, and like before scratches really easily, but the screen is glass and so far hos not suffered a single scratch. Although the screen hold fingerprints well, and you'll find yourself forever wiping them off, but not really the end of the world.

As you can expect from Apple, the build quality is fantastic, and the iPod works really well.
