What I liked
As always, apple has the best designs for their products. This one is no exception. In white, the iPod looks stunning! Much better than black in my opinion. The chrome finish at the back is an amazing design idea to have, just make sure you wipe it every now and then to get rid of any finger prints! The iPod touch has a 3.5" Multi-touch LED backlit screen which means it will be extremely bright. Not only is it bright, but it is the amazing retina display! The display is a very high resolution screen, 960 x 640 in resolution which means it has 326 PPI. That means the pixels are so small you can't even discern the individual pixels. It's crystal clear and the colours are stunning. In my opinion the retina display is the best mobile photos screen ever! Because its a multi touch screen, you can do any different finger gestures which are pretty cool.
The beast running the iPod touch is he apple A4 processer, the same processer from the iPhone 4! It is an absolute screamer and is super fast! The battery life isnt too bad either, I get about 1 1/2 days charge on moderate use.
Most importantly, the music. The music playback sounds amazing through the earphones and the volume can get pretty loud. You can get around 40 hours of music playback on the iPod touch.
There aren't many negative things I can say about the iPod touch because it's simply astounding. However, there is a few things this aren't so great... The fact that it's wifi only can put people off since you cant use Internet based tasks on the move. This isn't a big issue if you have a smartphone. The price is another issue that can put people off. Although the 8GB is fairly cheap, the 64GB isn't and that will cost you around £300... The last negative thing I can say is about the chrome finish on the back, it is prone to fingerprints and will get a unbelievable amount of scratches, this can be solved by simply buying a case.
In conclusionIf you own a 2nd or 3rd gen iPod touch, i would highly reccommend you to upgrade to the 4th gen. The features are well worth the upgrade. If you are planning on buying a new iPod but dont know which one to buy, go for the iPod touch. The software and hardware makes it a piece of technological perfection.
